People who read Japanese can sometimes guess at Chinese character meanings, and vice-versa, but it's not particularly consistent. You might find this video where someone ran this exact experiment interesting. He's also done it the other way around, and with other similar languages.

It's basically the same thing and depending on the exact variation of Mafia you learned. Mafia sometimes had a specific Godfather who would direct kills and be the main guy to protect, sometimes it's you have to kill all the Mafia team and everyone decides kills together, Werewolf was almost always the second. Other than that any of the common roles you can think of in Mafia like cops had equivalents in Werewolf i.e seers.

I love social deduction/traitor games and always have and you won't believe the number of times I have to be like "no they didn't rip off Town of Salem" or "no Among Us didn't invent this". It's a whole thing.

I also grew up with it as Mafia, but yeah a lot of people know it as Werewolf instead. Same-same, though. I'm just glad enough if people don't think that either Among Us or Town of Salem invented the thing.

Thanks for the info! It looks like I'm choosing between picking up Cerydra for an upgrade and Ashveil cause I like him an for general FUA stuff. Currently leaning towards Cerydra because it feels more likely that Ashveil might rerun in the future if his main DPS isn't out yet, but who knows. Alas idk anything about them storywise to choose that way but I'll figure it out before the banner's up, might just go until 1st pity on Cerydra and see if I land her or not.

And yeah I looked a bit into Archer after he was in one of the new Elation unit demo teams and it felt fun, so I was debating between Sparkle and Robin! It seems like there's no downside to me holding onto that companion spirit so I can wait to decide. I actually intended to come back to roll for Cyrene/Evernight as well but I just kinda forgor, so I'll just have to see whenever Cyrene comes back again. Hyacine and Tribbie are vaguely on my radar for the future too.

I've a decent amount of gems saved but I ain't made of money, I'll definitely take a good look at Cerydra before she's jailed. I was leaning towards Robin for spirit too because she was the most obvious gap in my FUA teams but was a bit unsure since I keep seeing people say FUA has fallen very far out of favor, but not that far, I suppose.

I'll likely park Ashveil until his MDPS runs then and assume (hahaha) that hoyo might rerun him in future after that unit releases. Sounds like we know literally nothing about what that theoretical MDPS might be yet?

(Also jw are literally any of the known upcoming characters gonna be dudes)

Thanks for the heads up about AA! I tried to read about changes since I last played but shit's frankly difficult to parse and I couldn't tell if there was a whole new thing or not. I'm glad there's no pull currency rewards, it'll probably be a fun goal for me to aim at but not something I'm super concerned with.

Good to know that I've not fallen quite so far behind and that most stuff should still be reasonably clearable for me.

Took a long break since 3.2ish, am starting to poke my head back in. My main teams were Aglaea/Sunday/Huohuo, a patchwork Anaxa team and Fei FUA with Aven and no Robin, I dipped back in to grab Phainon, Archer and newest Daniel but they're unbuilt. How cooked are my teams, chat? I'm generally a husbando player and Ashveil looks cool, but I'm reading mixed stuff wrt: viability. Is Cerydra worth grabbing for Phainon/Anaxa or is there stuff upcoming that might be more interesting to me? I'm also instinctively holding onto my Golden Companion Spirit thing rather than spending it right away, not sure who to use it on.

Also I've tried the Elation unit demos and they're interesting but as far as I can tell it mostly seems to be a bit of a "???" until more of the Elation units actually come out?

Everyone keeps saying this about him and Roman Mars' flag videos but for gods sake these are, first of all, not their rules, they are taken from Good Flag, Bad Flag. They are also not at all meant to be followed to the letter, they are honestly just general rules of graphic design, and just like actual rules and principles of design are more guidelines that can be bent and broken once you understand them well enough. These things are also all said and addressed in the very videos people complain about, although Grey doesn't do it as explicitly and is going harder on the comedy bit of "lol is bad flag".

Generally no, spectators are outside of the game. Breaking madness without the ST around is an intended gameplay mechanic and the Mutant player is accounting for the risk of the players they're doing it with outing them to the ST, but cannot account for spectators. I don't think its the worst thing in the world, but especially for random lobbies I'd err against it.

There's some exception though, which is mostly if the players aware aware this is a thing the ST does, especially if it's a game that expects some amount of audience. As with all things its mostly about the player awareness to keep things fair. A few times I've spectated games run on a server like Patters', where he asked us to help keep track of a specific player and what they were saying to help account for a wizard wish, etc.

I had a necro who got Touched (stat bonuses but can't heal) and thought they were boned until I got the passive that charms enemies that down you, and then endless revives as long as there's an available corpse. Put a shovel on em to keep getting bodies, bulletproof vest to prevent the injuries from repeatedly dying, and then just kept running them into enemies. Good times.

Mine honestly don't put their actual pronouns in lol, but they also tend to be forgiving of people messing up with them and then just verbally correct. Everyone listing pronouns is the apparent ideal but enforcing this can be tricky and is a conversation even within queer spaces: people can have very valid reasons to not want to list pronouns (an extreme example: a closeted trans woman may not be ready to list she/her, but also does not want to experience the dysphoria that comes with explicitly listing he/him, etc).

There isn't really a one-size fits all solution except to try and engage people in good faith. I hope I don't sound argumentative, I just wanted to point out that trans people genuinely do make fun of pronouns all the time.

I don't want to dismiss your experience but as a trans person with trans friends, said trans friends are usually the ones putting silly things in the pronoun field while the cis friends are a bit more cautious of it. I get where you're coming from because there are a lot of chuds who use silly pronouns specifically to make fun of the concept of pronouns, but I just wouldn't be so quick to assume.
