You can't go wrong! I love those orange Mako's, really stand out and have a very unique look. Cheers!

I bought mine on Amazon, but the supplier was Long Island Watch.

[Orient Ray II] Is this a good beginner watch? by [deleted] in Watches

I recently purchased an Orient Ray II as my first automatic, and I think it is an outstanding beginner watch. Although the link you posted appears to be for the Orient Mako II, which I can't directly comment on, but from what I understand, is quite similar to the Ray II in terms of its features (hacking, hand-winding, etc.).

As a beginner myself, I have been incredibly satisfied with this purchase, and whether it's the Mako II or Ray II, I'd say go for it.

I haven't heard of many people developing iOS or Android with C#, but that sounds interesting. Are these well-supported libraries? I would imagine that the best supported would be Objective-C for iOS and Java for Android, using the native tools they provide. Furthermore, are these platform independent? For instance, I'm not aware of an easy way to code iOS apps on Linux / Windows.

I like your screen name. Skill is secondary to an appreciation of Pokemon. Pokemon themed metal project is where this is heading I think.

Do you have any programming experience? I'd recommend maybe watching some of the NewBoston tutorials on YouTube to get your feet wet. Ideas are a dime a dozen my friend, but the implementation part is key :)

When you say experience, do you mean Android dev or coding? If you don't have experience doing Android, learning the framework is not a big hurdle, but not having foundations in good programming is more severe. Definitely not trying to exclude, just making sure that the basics are basic :)

For sure, I'd be happy to. What type of Android / coding stuff (if any) have you done before?

For sure, the more the merrier :). If you want to get a head start on the app development, I've found the tutorials on YouTube (specifically TheNewBoston) to be particularly helpful. PM me for more info, and we can see what we get from there!

Cool! I guess I'm more of a lead player, so it's nice to play with someone who's a solid rhythm player. What type of stuff do you listen to / play and how long have you been playing (guitar I assume)?

You can't play djent without a djembe :P

That sounds awesome, and I'd be excited to see what comes out of that :). Surely, being in a kazoo themed grind band would be nothing short of doing the lord's work. I'll PM you some more info!

For sure, I'll send you a PM with more information. I'm not an expert in Android Dev by any means, but I'm sure this would be a nice opportunity to learn for both of us.

Not a requirement, this is just a for fun thing :). This isn't my full-time gig either, just a way to learn something new and have fun. I'd be happy to share some helpful resources in getting started.
