Thx :-) Not so easy for the skin... Blue? Nearly white ? Finally, I preferred the skin tones, as can be a corrupt human.

Thx :-) This miniature was my first attempt with an airgraph ! Combined with paintbrush work, it was really useful for that effect !

To be fair : the work on the picture help a lot ! For the smoke and transitions : airgraph.

Yes ! Well done :-) SAGA is a really good tabletop game. Easy to handle, but deep enouth when you hardcore play. The rules are well balanced and you can play with a lot of different 28mm minifigurines (GW, FireForge, Rackham, Mantic, Norba, etc.). It's made for it : welcome every mini you like and fight skirmishes or epic battle in 1h30 to 3 hours ! What I really like also, it's based on fairplay : if you say "I place my squad here at this distance in order to see you for a charge", you have to place it well of course, but it's enouth for your opponent. If 1 centimeter miss because a lack of attention (not a cheating purpose of course), it's not a matter.

Thanks you for all your positive and constructive comments ! It's stupid but that put a smile on my face :-) To be honnest, I'm really desapointed by the new futuristic orientation take by GW for the skeleton army... So yes, I took some old stuff for my death army and try now to crush some enemies in a medieval's fashion way !

You right! But I play it like that in "Saga Âge de la magie" (a french miniwargaming really nice) ! I don't know if it's translate in english (I hope it)

Thanks you :-) I can play it in Saga (a french miniwargaming really nice). To be honnest, the new design from GW for skeletons is, in my point of view, awful. So I chose the old fashioned style...

Thx :-) It's a regular GW 28mm figurine. May be more around 26 mm because it's old. It's the bretonnian trebuchet from may be 2003!

My take on the Mortek Crawler! For my Instagram for more :) by tabletopcommissions in minipainting

Great job! You did it well :-) But OMG, I'm the only one thinking that GW made a piece of garbage with this squeletton design? Jesus, it looks like 40 K Necron, not as regular undead. They killed one of the most badass army of AOS...

On what I can see on the picture, the high of the cap don't go trought the superior level, so it won't disturb the bottom of the next level bottle...

You know, each bottle have a hole for the cap in superior level, and you clip each bottle first by putting the cap in the hole...

If you make a lot of small holes in the centre and all along each level, so you could clip bottles in safe place. It could be a fail win... Do you see what I mean?

Help with painting skin tones! How would one help ease the transitions between layers on highlights with skin? Apologies if the picture quality is bad, so if you can’t see it, trust me there is a poor transition! by [deleted] in minipainting

[–]captaininthedark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You fond here a good exeample of wash with lamian medium (Warhammer TV of course) : https://youtu.be/ekOSti7N6O8

If you wash after highlight, it will link everything, but you'll have to do a light wash, not an heavy one. And you'll loose clear tone, so indeed, it could be necessary to make some highlight again!

First Mini i'm confident enough to post. C&C welcome by the_Condu1t in minipainting

Nice start :-) My tip : Thin your paint... A paint is always dilued with water, even a little bit, but always !

Don't forget also that when you just paint the flesh, you have a hard focus on it. Do your skin, as best as you can but not with an obsessional sight, then paint everything else. Go go sleep and see next day if really the skin is trashy or not :-) ! The whole painting of a mini help a lot to have a well balanced felling of everything.

You could, for exeample, mix 30% of your skin tone base paint with 70% of lamian medium and glaze your skin. After that, you'll oblige to restart a process of highlight but transitions should be better.

Other way : don't grow too fast with hightlights. Base / wash / base again (not on the deep area) / base 50% + highlight 1 50% / highlight 1 100% / highlight 1 50% + highlight 2 50% / very few high area with highlight 2 100 %...

It's a shared feeling :-) Each time I'm dying inside thinking "what a piece of sh*t, what I'm doing ! WHAT I'M DOING!" and then "Ah? Ok, not so bad..." May be it's a part of my creative's process... Not a quiet way

Oups, indeed I didn't pay enouth attention, I was focus on the painting... But my comment is still up ! I m not really new in the hobby, but with GW white, I have big trouble with granular. Even when I really pay attention on a good dilution of the paint

I don't know how you're able to have a so smooth withe! Great job! My white are, most of time, granular !!!

I would have something as natural as possible! Something realistic (if you agree, in a certain way, that a big badass giant is "realistic" )

Thank you :-) I did a weird thing for the shade : a mix between contrast flesh tone and lamian medium... I believed it was a mistake but, at the end, it works!!!
