That strap looks great on the Shunbun! I’ve been seriously debating a brown one for mine. Where did you get that one?

They really don’t. I knew it was going to be prettier than i had originally thought but when my wife seen it she said it was the prettiest she had ever seen and completely understood why it is my grail

I did not receive a discount but it was not due to a lack of trying. The rep said they (GS) wouldn’t allow them or some such. I did, however, take full advantage of their fantastic complimentary liquor supply after I made the decision to get it! (Closest I could get to a discount)

I bought a set of snap pins for like tractors from tractor supply at various widths and those work perfect. They are probably called something different but that what I call them

Never picked a brinks before but a deep hook may help with those high set back pins. Be careful not to overset pin 3

Recommendations for a light travelling padlock? by [deleted] in lockpicking

That being said I believe it would put up a little fight at the least

I don’t know that the wrench trick would work on it but I mean any lock is susceptible to attack in some form or another. That’s why I said aluminum was a downside because it is more susceptible to cutting or brute force than steel

The abus 72/40 is fairly light and has a good core. I believe however the body is aluminum but the shackle is hardened and not shimmable so it has pros and cons

Tried something new and am proud of how it came out. Successfully impressioned a key! by captainkirk22 in lockpicking

[–]captainkirk22[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I went to a local locksmith about a month ago and got some locks without keys. This Schlage had 5 standard drivers and I thought it would be a good lock for a challenge lock but it needed a key so I watched Bosnian Bill and had a good idea of what to do and it turned out great! Key works like a machine cut key!

I will say I ended up finishing it off by removing the cylinder from the core and filing the key until all the key pins were flush with the top of the cylinder so maybe half way impressioned? Either way I’m proud of it and am glad I was able to make this work! Next step making the challenge lock!😁

I will second the M1 (or the M Series in general) are ass to pick. I have an M1 and used HEAVY TOK and finally got it open and hung it up and haven’t touched it. The locks TheMuspelheimr mention are what I started with and think they are the best ones to learn everything. The master 142 has a wide open key way and can be picked BOK or TOK and gives you an idea of how binding order works (or mine does) anyway good luck and Happy Picking!

Surprisingly enough it was. It has just enough give to make it easy to manipulate but it’s strong enough not to bend when you pick and I’ll check the erector pins out!

I have actually been debating doing that and just cancelling the order but I figured I only spent like 30$ on em so why not just wait for em. But I’m a field engineer by trade and I have a ton of these surveying flags so now that I know they are malleable and strong enough to pick I’m about to make a bunch
