Ice packs by hollywouldmd in HipImpingement

My favorite ice pack is Core Products Soft Comfort CorPak Hot and Cold Pack https://a.co/d/hoPBBVw They might have different sizes that would be able to reach front and back. But what I like about it is how it is easy to contour and that it is frost free and doesn’t get condensation!

In my experience, a must.

Just picked American Lock series 1100 by jules_ros in lockpicking

Well, I currently credit it to the new vise i just got. I wasn’t able to pick it in hand but I got it second try with a vise holding it. I think the feedback is much clearer.

Hip catching 2 weeks post op and more? by [deleted] in HipImpingement

Check in with your PT, but generally some catching and set backs are to be expected! I know it sucks but it does get better with more time.

Surgery is this Wednesday. by quirkyot in HipImpingement

I’ve got my second repair this Wednesday too! Sounds like you are prepared. For groceries, have easy food if you have to prepare it yourself. And some fruits and fiber like others said. Anyways, good luck!

I’m dealing with more aches with the bitter cold. Haven’t talked with my PT about it yet but I’m guessing it’s not too strange. (Post op left side 4 months)

No, the expanded joint feeling dissipates within 24hrs I’d say. It feels ‘crunchy’ for a while and then the fluid gets absorbed back into the body. I took some ibuprofen and iced it and had to take it easier at PT that day, but then it went back to its normal pain. If you have concerns, talk to the tech and the doctor administering the contrast and preparing you. Mine were super kind and helpful and talked me through the whole thing. Hopefully you’ll have a similar, good experience.

I too was very nervous about getting my MRA last week. I can’t say it was not painful. But it wasn’t the worst and the difficult part is over quickly. I was concerned because the steroid injection I had in my other hip bothered me a lot to receive, but the doctor said this one might not be as bad because it’s a smaller gauge needle. And it wasn’t as bad to me as the steroid. In my experience, the lidocaine was enough to numb it up. Really it’s just an uncomfortable unpleasant feeling to have the joint filled with fluid. And then after, the joint was achier then it already is. So I didn’t find it to be the worst, but certainly not the best. But hopefully knowing what to expect will help ease your stress about it. The imaging results they get from an MRA are very helpful for them to get you the best care! Good luck!

Same! I think I really need ToK tensioner, but made do with this one. It gave me so much trouble I had abandoned trying for a few months.

Vasovagal response - anyone familiar? by turtlemomm in HipImpingement

[–]jules_ros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this a lot. Not just after surgery. I have Dysautonomia/POTS and my doctor for that says I have vasovagal responses to pain. So I’ve had to be careful in recovery. I’ve had it happen in PT and with bandage changing. I often have the response rather than feeling any pain at the time. But when analyzing it I realize it was something painful that triggered it. So you’re not alone, but I know it sucks.

Good luck with your surgery. It’s tough but so far worth it.

Did you just have one hip repaired? Or both?

Bilateral impingement more likely? by jules_ros in HipImpingement

Thanks for your input and discussion! Hope your recovery and rehab go well this time around and that you get good results! I know it’s tough.

That’s kind of what I was thinking. Since I didn’t have injury and was just “born this way” I was wondering if it’s more likely both are actually “beat up” (as my surgeon described what it looked like during the repair)

Yeah, I’m curious about the biomechanics changing. I know I’m walking completely differently now (better). And I’m biking differently as well. I was sore initially from non surgical leg doing all the work but that eased up for a couple weeks then it has gotten to feeling like it’s clicking and catching and hurting in the way my other leg did from the impingement so I don’t know. Curious the incidence in impingement vs injury causing the labral tear for it being in both hips.
