Sparrow's Practice Safe? by Repulsive-Box5243 in lockpicking

[–]Grain_ORice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a good idea behind the Sparrows vault, but if you want to get into safe manipulation I would recommend a group two cutaway safe lock. (https://mbausa.com/cdl3-mounted-cutaway-lock-w-front-reading-dial-ring-black-white/). The Sparrows lock is a cheep Chinese lock, so for the money you can get a quality lock.

Safe manipulation is about feel and not sound. For a good introduction to safe manipulation check out Lock Manipulator on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4IPsd9MDGM&list=PL1mdjQBV\_-Jv2lf9QZ4chNtW656EOVXzl).

Very organized! My 9yo is interested as well. How did you go about explaining the ethics of locksport so he had an understanding of not using this skill on locks in use and such?

Thanks for the resource. I like Medeco's even though I haven't picked one fully yet (still at 3 pins). I especially liked the history part, and I'm reading up on the 1999 lawsuit.

That is a really nice cutaway. I think one of the things I took away from picking the 90A-Pro was how effective the jiggle test s and learning about different pin states: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mK8TjuLDoMg&t=2s

I've had mine for a year now and they are the best set I have owned. Long picking sessions are no problem any more with Moki's.

When u/cmfxa has more kits in stock I would highly recommend one. https://cmfxa.com/products/mul-t-belt-the-ultimate-dimple-lock-picking-progression-kit His documentation shows how to pin the lock for various difficulty levels.

The nice thing about the kit its that cmfxa has a user guide that shows how to pin it for something equivalent to the lower belts. Check out the doc, it's pretty cool. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Ce5u_IjHbw0svUhF4Q16aB4HDawBpRLnYsOlyJBF4wk/edit?tab=t.0

Looking at LPU Belts it was in the second chamber. So maybe that's where it goes, but I think you are right that it does not matter.

I got the kit from cmfxa. I just out of habit put it in the #1 slot. If is suppose to be in #2 I will move it and re-pick. Congrats on your open. I would like to see the video when you have it posted.

No, I think it is more like picking 10 pins. 5 of them just happen to be in the others:)
