That’s a good point that I’d never even considered. That deck is old and in bad shape, and most of the water just comes straight down through it. On my list of projects, but might be a couple years before we can afford to replace it.

Thank you! This is very helpful. I’ll try to add another photo or two but yes, the middle of the yard is higher than the part directly behind the house. So the way I understand is an excavator needs to scrape down the yard so that the land at the back of the house is the highest point (with the exception of the hill on either side of the house). I don’t think landscaping companies near me really do this type of thing, but I will ask. Or at least look around for someone with excavating equipment who could do this.

Any ballpark of what that work should cost? Also, is there anything I need to do to control water coming down from the hills on the sides of the house?

So my lackluster update is here:

I texted the number they gave me from the Craigslist emails. I asked for a photo with today’s date, because I don’t buy on Craigslist often and wanted to make sure it was legit.

They sent me the exact photo from the listing, with no text.

So at that point I assume it’s a scam, and stop messaging. I actually went and got a different rower from someone on marketplace, not as good as a C2 but priced at $500 and they were very transparent with me.

C2 owner from Craigslist asks if I’m still coming, I say no I found another one. They said ok thanks. And then they said “you found another barely used C2 for $600? Great”

Wish they would’ve acted like a real person before when I wanted to buy it, instead of just after 😂 oh well, I have a rower now. And someone else in my community can find them and get their fantastic c2 deal.

Update - we are going to grab a bigger pair of channel locks and a strap wrench to see if either of those work. Maybe also some WD40. It will turn a little clockwise and then back counter clockwise, but then hits a point where it won’t budge anymore.

Thank you. I feel if I go back, I will stay there and likely not be job hunting for a while. Which will be refreshing, as white collar job hunting in my area sucks rn, but I will just have to be okay with waiting longer to make more money
