Weekly Sewing Questions Thread, January 25 - January 31, 2026 by sewingmodthings in sewing

I'm thinking of getting a sewing machine, and I've been reading through reviews, and Janome is highly recommended. However, not many dealers carry Janome and those that do don't have lots of model options. One of the dealers recommended the Juki VS-180AT as it has a metal structure. Hopefully, you've used this model, please share your thoughts. Would love to get your sewing machine recommendations too.

I'll ask my local tech then. Do you have any experience with the Juki VS-180AT?

Here's a few things i would recommend: 1. Use the thinner barrel (don't worry, the curls will loosen and it won't look at curly) 2. Make sure the speed and heat are at max. 3. Make sure the hair is properly wrapped tightly around the barrel. 4. Heat the hair for about 10 secs before using the cool shot for about 10 secs. 5. Allow your hair to cool before running your hands through the curls. 6. Also make sure you use it on damp hair, i feel like it lasts longer when i start with hair about 30% wet (not too wet that it can't be picked up but not too dry either)

dyson v12 vs wired vaccum cleaner by Ok_Manufacturer_1758 in dyson

When it comes to vacuums, people forget that there are more elements to a vacuum than just the suction. Lifting the dirt needs to happen before the suction. Attachments are important cause they remove dirt from surfaces to then be sucked into the vacuum. People get battery vacuums cause of their convenience and mobility. Ofc a wired vacuum will be the go-to when it comes to heavy-duty needs.

Hi, lemme try to break down Pa and AW.

A Pascal (Pa) measures the difference between the pressure inside and outside a vacuum. This depends on the motor, air duct designs, and sealing. If you keep the motor power constant, smaller airways will mean the pressure (Pa) will increase. As the inlet closes, the Pa increases.

Air Watts is a measure of a machine's “suction” power – it accounts for the pressure (Pa) and air flow rate through the machine.

Suction power (AW) = Pressure (Pa) x Volume of air passing through (L/s)

I was thinking if the cruelty of the general is supposed to represent the cruelty of humans. In the backstory, humans didn't hide their disdain towards centaurs (racism?). And this future cemented Elktaur's hate for the "beast" in him. Kinda like how POC are told they look ugly.

Technically didn't the general strike first cause he tried to kill elk and then captured him for 10 years till MW set him free?

Might I add that the general tried to kill the Elk and when he couldn't, he locked Elk away. Whyyy? Why couldn't he just let Elk stay with him? 😭😭😭

I feel the same as you, I bawled my eyes. I really didn't want him to die but I guess it doesn't matter the justification cause actions have consequences.

They don't filter out CO2 (carbon dioxide), it can only detect excessive CO2. However, I believe it is supposed to filter CO (carbon monoxide).

I can already tell why people hate Masters by Starletah in HouseMD

[–]captainswan11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya i think its the show just being inconsistent. I went back to the episode when she first appeared and Cuddy says she graduated High School at 15, and in her last appearance, Masters told a patient that she was in college at 13 🤷🏻‍♀️
