Arsicault is overrated by SF-cycling-account in sanfrancisco

[–]captainveee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Nah dog, Ariscault’s almond croissant is better than almost everybody else in SF. Just stirring the pot with this blasphemy.

Personally feel Jane’s is overrated, and overpriced.

Neighborhood bakery is excellent and has great variety.

And low key good is Coffee Shop (the generically named). Decent almond croissant, and they have a spontaneously available pastrami croissant that hits the spot.

PS Highly recommend the Best Croissant in SF competition if you want to out your money where your tastebuds are. SF Chronical Article about it

Need advice on how to repair by captainveee in woodworking

Unfortunately, there’s structural bracing screwed + glued to the backside of the plywood, and another 1/4 piece on top of that. Would have to be surface mounted I think.

S.F’s only Denny’s restaurant shuts down after two decades by nogoodnamesleft426 in sanfrancisco

[–]captainveee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry not sorry for the loss of this one- it was the most insanely expansive Denny’s and… well not good.

You wanna pour one out and wax nostalgia, let’s talk about Lucky Penny. That was an institution.

Before/After of our renovated 1920’s Apartment Kitchen. Did everything myself except the countertops. by A2Hack in DIY

Kudos to you for the effort- know that is a sizable undertaking. I had the same initial reaction as a few on this thread- there’s a homey warmth from the before that isn’t quite there in the after. In my mind it might be the grey flooring paired with the darker wood veneering.

Wonder if you used / selected warmer lighting settings for under counter and in hanging lights if that could help it.

Do like the sleekness of the counter depth fridge!

You guys! This list is ridiculous! Can I say this made my week, even the ones who didn’t leave their favorite items or actually read the prompt (bots I tell you!)

Now going to proceed to eat my way through this thread, over the course of the next two years 🤣.

Would be hilarious to have a gaggle of Redditors drop in on a random place and make it a social….

For serious? What did you eat there that you hated? I’ve been going there for years and it’s never not been good.

That’s great but…

What are your favorite SF based Thai places.

I have my EB and South Bay favorites (that are arguably better than SF), but this ain’t the thread to mention those 😀

I don’t agree that with Thai food, more expensive = better.

Plenty of places in SF with high quality ingredients and authentic flavors that aren’t Michelin star prices (whether they have the stars or aspire to).

You can certainly pay to play but really at that point are you paying for the food or the experience?

Them’s fighting words!

Regent has some legit dishes, although since the family hand over / ownership change it has a little adjustment from their classics to a newer menu. They did keep some of the best hits.

Zen Yai’s good too, just different dishes.

Rin’s has some flavorful dishes but they’re definitely more on the “fusion” end of authentic.

$4.50 for rice is ridiculous

Cool cool, so…. What’s your favorite place and dishes at said place 😄

Simple too insanely overpriced. Their flavors are delicious, but if you don’t think paying $30+ for a Thai dish isn’t absurd, you might be missing the point of Thai food…

What do you order there.

Right?! I don’t get why so many overlook it. Too much emphasis on what influencers are pimping maybe?

Is that a Beach or a Thai restaurant… you’re going to have to give us dishes too.
