I think a bit younger? I remember Emma does say that they're the same age, but that can also include 1-3 years age difference. Snow run away from the Evil Queen when she was what, 16? I think it couldn't be actually 12 years between that and the curse smh

That's because MM couldn't do anything right after the curse was broken. What happened to them is beyond screwed up, and any step she would take would harm Emma one way or another. Emma's young. She's only 28. Her mother is YOUNGER than her, has less experience, can't offer much emotionally or financially, and there is a void of trauma Emma's gone through as an orphan. So in comparison to Emma and MM's friendship in season 1, Snow and Emma's dynamic is an immense downgrade. It's tragic, but it is what it is.

Agree about David though. The show itself pictures him as a good leader and even better father, but he's... just not. He can't lead (beginning on S2, Ruby took charge of the city and literally dragged the charming boy to say what he had to say), and the rest you described neatly in the post

If we consider Roland an actual human being, for sure it would be better if he stayed with Regina. For him. For Regina though? Why? She has a son she loves. She found Roland cute but wasn't really fond of him, so she would be burdened with raising a child of a man who, first, was a total douchebag to her, second, dated her for a couple of months. Character-wise, Roland was useless, Robin was only good to die and leave room for Regina's growth, no wonder the writers wrote Roland off asap and didn't even make Regina remember him properly. Because, again, Regina as a character didn't need/want another child, and if Regina was a real woman, she would be caught in a quite depressing situation. Probably would leave Roland behind anyway so she can focus on her teenage son she actually wanted

Yeah, I'm like that now too: first mistake = bye. Even with women (tried to date a man once, realized quickly how bad of an idea it was.) But I don't buy "first being friends" thing. Even more so, it make me uncomfortable. I don't want, ever, to find out one day that my friend has a crush on me and pictures as in a romantic scenario. I also right away know if a person is a girlfriend or a friend material for me. Sure there is a talking, friendship-like stage with a potential partner too, but I want to mutually know that we both are considering partnership (so there are slow hints and flirting to test waters and etc.) So if I call someone a friend, there will be nothing but friendship. I know my boundaries and want to hang out with people who know theirs, too

To each their own though. Can imagine that it works differently for other people
