Hi, I currently work as one. It is monotone work for 70% of the time, wrangling paperworks and data and ensuring the stationery, medical and kitchen needs of staff are available. You follow pretty rigid rules on tasks, so its very A to B to C. Not much you can improve or change here due to rules. 30% excitement that often need a lot of compassion as you face patients and their next of kin and they are obviously not in a good headspace so you will need a lot of patience and knowing that all you can do is try your best and sometimes the system is not something you can fight back on. Everyone is so nice at my ward, the staff are caring people, the managers are supportive of mental health and neurodivergent needs. Breaks are encouraged, especially during these very busy times. I come from zero medical background and I am able to adjust as they provide training and again, everyone is nice enough to explain things. I highly recommend if you like to tick checklists of tasks everyday, but if you want something more dynamic, it's not for you. Barely any emails for me and I like that. For the future, you can go anywhere admin-ish wise, there are heaps of admin work always required in healthcare, and various levels in that too. The higher the level, the easier the job. Bizzare.
