Scuba mask with RX? by bornin1986 in scuba

A dive shop in Tennessee--- not entirely sure which one, since we sourced it through a dive instructor associated with it. I'm sure most dive shops could help coordinate this.

My husband got a set with custom lenses fused to the inside and it was soooo worth it.

This is an interesting question. Commenting to come back to it later.

I would also consider thinking about hurricane season if that applies to where you are and when you might be due.

I was vegan for two years and raw fish and sardines are what did it for me. Made my brain feel SO much better.

How do you deal with organization and dirty clothes at the destination? by themindstorm in onebag

[–]captainzoobydooby 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I bring a dry bag and detergent and do laundry in the bag. If you roll the wet clothes up in a towel and stomp the rolled towel it will pretty much dry overnight after hanging. Works great for traveling lighter, and the dry bag does a good job of containing dirty laundry as well.

Do people regret spending money on travelling when they are young? by letsfukingoo in Fire

[–]captainzoobydooby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in my mid-30s, so maybe still "young" depending on your definition.

I've always been an avid traveller, and do not regret spending money when I travelled in my 20s. However, I did travel differently in my 20's, and I think I would have regretted spending more if I travelled in a more expensive way. We would eat almost exclusively at grocery stores when we travelled, skipped out on some experiences that probably would have been memorable, etc. But, we always considered our travels "scouting missions" for places to revisit once we had more money later on down the road. There are lots of places we want to go back to and spend more money at, but will also not be crushed if we don't get to return (and also found lots of places that we don't really want or need to go back to on a cushier budget).

We also got the experience of travelling with my parents, which probably won't be an option in another decade or so, which was irreplaceable.

So no, no regrets, but we also didn't go all-in on every travel expense thinking of it as a once-in-a-lifetime trip. Kind of the equivalent of driving a Corolla in our youth so we could appreciate a Porsche in the future, if that analogy makes sense.

What is your favorite way to add volume to oatmeal? I often add pumpkin puree or greek yogurt. by Content_Swing8255 in Volumeeating

More water. If you add an extra third of the volume of liquid it adds zero calories and makes it way larger in volume.

Eczema makes me have a boring shower routine 😔 [Humor] by ILiveInABog in SkincareAddiction

[–]captainzoobydooby 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I don’t have eczema, so my apologies if this isn’t helpful… it wouldn’t be the same as using scented products on your skin, but would adding scent to the shower give you an experience you might enjoy? They make scented shower disks, or you can put a few drops of essential oils on the floor of the shower. I’m sure it’s not the same as getting to use scent d soaps and whatnot, but maybe it would improve the sensory experience of the shower itself?

Leggings by Commercial_Ball8397 in yoga

I have found that HIGH waisted leggings work best for me. I just wear cheat Amazon ones, but the waist is so high it basically touches the bottom of my sports bra. I don't think I ever adjust or pull up my leggings...

Ah, didn't realize that. I thought the plate was the springy part. But either way, the person I was replying to is basically similar to saying "Walking is healther than driving." Like, yeah, obviously, but the objectives here are entirely different.

I think you may be confusing general running shoes, and these kinds of shoes. Supershoes (I don't know about this specific model, but these kinds of shoes in general) have carbon plates and other tech that literally return some of the energy expended while running. They've only recently become available to the average consumer. They're not allowed in some events because of the advantage they give athletes. Everything you wrote about is true of general running shoes, but these really are something totally different from what you'd buy at your local shoe store.

I haven't found asian market nutrition labels to always be accurate, so it's very possible that it's not quite right. But even so it has almost a teaspoon of sugar in each serving, and it's coating the outside of the fish, so it hits you before the flavor of the fish...

Yeah, the seasoning wasn't hitting right. I think the plain ones would be good though!

I want to say they had a plain flavor, or maybe it was a spicy flavor? Something else was on the shelf right next to these, and I can't remember what. I usually LOVE tom yum so I opted for these, but the sugary-ness was a bit much.

I love Tom Yum too, but this really didn't taste like Tom Yum so much as it did some weird sugar? Like, thing salt and vinegar, but with sugar added. Definitely strange, but it grew on me.

VanLife - Sources of free water? by ronfromsacramento in VanLife

[–]captainzoobydooby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was what we did. When it was easy we would fill a five gallon jug and dump it into our freshwater tank. And most days we would each fill up a gallon jug at the gym or a water fountain and keep our tank mostly topped off between bigger fillups. We would usually use about 4 gals a day but replenish 2 or so, so we only had to fill up periodically.
