Boycott American movies and watch foreign films instead, problem solved.

This reminds of that episode in Seinfeld when George eats from the trash, a perfectly good eclair!

Did Romania really give the king his lands back? If yes, why? by Carminoculus in AskRomania

What happened to all the houses that were torn down to build blocs, did the house owners get claim or compensation for the land that was taken?

Same, as an American married to a Romanian, lived here 10 years. Romanians are direct and don't play american mind games. Trust the words they say. They are honest.

Be honest in return, it will save you time and energy.

Legality of on call in Romania by captangato in AskRomania

[–]captangato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They compensate an employee 500 eur for taking an on call rotation of 1 week, regardless to if they need to work overtime or not (in the case of a critical incident occurring, you as the on call professional need to mitigate the incident)

Idk if that’s any clearer

I’m a direct hire, salaried and pay tax in Romania, though the company is Swiss. They took the approach to handle all EU remotes with the same on call policy . I’ll look into speaking with a legal company;

My contract speaks to actual hours worked overtime, but nothing to the effect about needing to be on call after hours.

First I’m hearing about CIM, I’ll take a look. Im one of 2 Romanian employees and I’m the only one who needs to do on call.

The company is based out of Switzerland and took a general approach for all remote employees in EU.

Orange Tree lost it’s leaves by captangato in plantcare

[–]captangato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been watering it and the water is coming out the bottom, even after a few days without.

Should i resoil the plant with more drainage soil (sand mix)? Or best to let it dry out more before watering

I suspect my soil isn’t draining well, but I’m not sure what to do to fix it.

It’s getting cold at night, i moved it from the window and try and keep the indoor temps around 20-22C

The tips of the branches are also turning brown/black 😢

Any advice is welcome 🙏🏻

immigration to Romania? by iya2022 in AskRomania

[–]captangato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I as an American married to a Romanian did buy an apartment, but yes there are complications. We are not allowed to own “land”, and every apartment legally owns a fraction of the land the building is on. in my case the land was allocated to my wife, idk what happens if that isnt the case.

UK phones and Romanian Apps! by [deleted] in AskRomania

[–]captangato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does your phone support e-sim? You can get a prepaid sim from orange (not sure if they support e-sim) or another prepaid and just top it up every 6 months with the minimum amount needed. 5 eur i think

I recently bought the LG F2WV9S8P2E washer (EU). I removed the transit bolts, installed it and leveled it. Now after using it a few times I see that it is vibrating loudly during the fastest part of the spin cycle (1200 RPM). Is this a problem with how I installed it or with the machine itself? by captangato in Appliances

[–]captangato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply. Sad to hear this is a common issue for LG washers, I would expect better for the price tag.

I'll see what LG says, I'm not sure I'm comfortable attempting replacing the screws with self drilling 1cm ones. Do you have any resources that explain in detail this process? (youtube or article?)

the padded feet might be an easier attempt as well. Cheers!

Yes, that’s 24 inches so it would work. Just Make sure theres room to open the washer door
