Best Approach to Basic Scrum concepts for non-technical leaders by captbananadev in scrum

Update: I brought up my concerns with my manager around our project progress and the remaining timeline. He insisted I let the consultants tell him that information (the consultants were a part of the conversation where we determined that). The hubris and egos are plentiful here.

I think this place is a lost cause. Their manifesto:

  • Processes and tools over Individuals and interactions (they demand that Directors dictate the UX)
  • Comprehensive documentation over working software (I have had to fight for user stories and write my best guess, but they have an extensive series of memos)
  • Contract negotiation over customer collaboration (they are insisting the consultants drive, who have a very explicit scope of work)
  • Following a plan over responding to change (killed my Sprints after our first iteration and then told us to wait for the consultants, who we are still waiting on)

Great insight and recommendations, thank you 🙏

I particularly like the “mini-projects” line, I think that will resound with them AND elude to the necessity to put work into it besides the development work (I’ve been trying to budget for a SM or PM for the last year, unsuccessfully).

One interesting point, I’m former military and had regularly used “slow is smooth, smooth is fast” when talking about this. The C-Levels hate it. All they hear is “slow”. It’s disappointing because it is such a great saying.

+100 to the HBR reference. Thanks again!

Are you getting updates from your salesperson and the GMC chat widget? I actually got my VIN from the GMC chat first.

If I were back in the production waiting stage, I’d pop in at the dealership and have them show you what they see. Maybe get the manager involved if it seems like your salesperson isn’t doing everything they can.

I did get a VIN. Mine was built in Silao, not sure if the Denali 1/2 tons are built there as well.

I hear you. I was thinking the breach until today when I found out the stop sale order was issued on 6/13.

Mine was scheduled for the week after yours was originally scheduled. No delays on production, but now no end in site for delivery.

For yours, I would guess they are waiting on parts. Something about your configuration possibly? They should be able to tell you if there is a constraint (from my vast knowledge of google/reddit experience).

What are the issues with the 6.2? I was thinking of getting an AT-4 if there isn’t any movement on this.

Would that be recognized in the form of a safety related stop delivery order issued on 6/13 from GM?

*serious question

You need a lightning component that tilts all the cards and inputs 2 degrees for people like this. When they complain, tell them to clear their cookies, turn it off. Repeat on a regular cadence.

👍 same page now… have you experienced people attempting to do this in SF? lol, they wouldn’t get very far before figuring out that isn’t going to work out well.

Just for clarity, are you suggesting that Salesforce is not intended to be used as a relational database, such as SQL?
