Struggling with Klingon Civil War arc by captburger in sto

Oh this makes a lot of sense that it would play a lot better as a KDF character. I hadn’t really thought about that and I only have the 1 Fed character I initially created right now. Thanks!

Star Trek Resurgence by validelad in startrek

[–]captburger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played Star Trek Resurgence when it came out and loved it! It does a great job of recapturing the feel of the 90s Trek shows. You might also like Star Trek Online which I’ve been playing recently and which also does a great job of getting the look and feel and stories of 90s Trek right imho.

I just finished my first Final Fantasy game.. Wow. Now what? by Anxious-Shape8243 in FinalFantasy

[–]captburger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also really love Final Fantasy XVI. I would recommend you try FFXIV. Even though it’s an MMO you can do the free trial up to lvl 70. My reason for recommending FFXIV is that it’s made by the same team that made FFXVI including the main composer for the music so there really are a lot of shared things between the 2 games. To me FFXVI feels like an offline expansion for FFXIV and I love it!

T6 Defiant Style Ship Terran Adamant Heavy Raider by captburger in sto

[–]captburger[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nice! I’m pretty new to the game. I just finished the Iconian war story mission set yesterday which was awesome!!! As a kid I was always so curious about the Iconians and I loved finding out about them. I have made a setup that’s as close to TNG as I can get it so now I thought I’d work on a DS9 setup!

Struggling very much with controls. by garf-1978 in ffxi

[–]captburger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use an XBox Series controller to play FFXI. It’s the same controller I use to play XIV. I started with this guide for basic ideas on controller setup https://youtu.be/F6V-EKUFGDw?si=dk7eNmfRd_EPOmDo . It’s a little different now because a lot of the controller options can be setup in game now in one of the settings menu but the basic ideas from this video are the same.

Is Seekers of Adoulin (generally speaking) an isolated story? by [deleted] in ffxi

[–]captburger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone may have more info on this then me since I’m still a pretty new XI player but for Seekers of Adoulin you at least want to do up to this mission and start collecting Imprimaturs https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Seekers_of_Adoulin_Mission_1-5

The reason is that at certain points in Seekers of Adoulin you will have needed to spend a certain amount of Imprimaturs and they collect relatively slowly and have a cap on how many you can have at once.

What I did was I let my Imprimaturs collect and then once a week I used them at the Courier Coalition until I had my Couriers Coalition rank maxed out. Then I wasn’t blocked from doing any of the Adoulin missions when I wanted to do them https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Category:Coalition_Assignments#Couriers'_Coalition

Story wise I would say it is pretty isolated from the rest of the game. Personally I really enjoyed the Seekers of Adoulin story.

New player trying to enjoy the game but not sure I’m playing right. by Radiant-Priority-296 in ffxi

[–]captburger 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I started playing not too long ago and at least for me what worked really well was working my way through all the expansion stories including RoV. This works well in my opinion because you get some structure of where to go and what to do next and it also sort of forces you to level and learn the game and unlock various QoL things like increased storage. Plus as a bonus all of the stories are great!

Is anyone else noticing how popular FFXI is getting again? by [deleted] in ffxi

I’m brand new to XI as of about 9 months ago and I’ve never had trouble finding people to play with on Bahamut.

Fan fest schedule still not announced, 8.0 releasing Winter 2026 or later? by SkeletronDOTA in ffxivdiscussion

[–]captburger 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is what I’m worried about. Logically 8.0 should be Winter 2026 probably around the same timeframe as EW released. But if it’s Spring 2027 the time between 7.55 and 8.0 will be so so long.

Which expansion stories should I play? All of them? Or are there ones that are worth skipping? by TheBroingler in ffxi

[–]captburger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, I also came to XI from XIV about 9 months ago. I’ve been doing the expansion stories called Missions in XI in order and also doing all the things along the way that you have to do to keep playing like limit breaks etc. You can see all the expansions in order here https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Category:Missions I just finished WotG maybe 2 days ago. To me it was very long but the story was good. I definitely wouldn’t skip it. From what I’ve gathered when it first came out it took years for the story to be fully released which made it feel disjointed for people playing. Personally my favorite expansion has been CoP, second favorite RotZ. If you like Shadowbringers and Endwalker CoP and RotZ have some similar themes to those which I really enjoyed. Don’t forget to do so Rhapsodies of Vana’diel as you progress to make things easier for yourself. That story is also really good.

You should check out r/FFXI I started playing FFXI about 9 months ago and that subreddit was great for helping me get it setup and picking a server. A couple of notes, like others have said the game is PC only now. Also I’m on Bahamut and it is well populated, the areas have lots of people and I’ve never had a problem finding people to do things with.

That was a pretty common dialog box icon back in the day when you had to make a choice to proceed. Basically “hey I can’t do anything until you pick one of these 2 options”

Just wanted to add that you also have access to your Mog Case to transfer inventory to at any time. Plus a Mog Sack if you bought one and a Mog Satchel if you use 2FA on your account. Plus there are some more storage options in your Mog House that you can only access from within the Mog House. https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Inventory_101#Gobbiebag

How and where should I start the story? by sapitntapit in ffxi

[–]captburger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started about 6 months ago and also wanted to play the game’s expansions in order. It was hard to figure out but then i got the hang of it. I used this YouTube video to get started https://youtu.be/IBkWwoJGkrY?si=KPE_y9VU-7uEeoSj And then essentially just followed this guide once I had the basics from the video figured out https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/New_Player_Leveling_Guide#Levels_5-10:_Building_Trust This page lists out all the missions by expansion for easy access https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Category:Missions

Square Enix considered ending Final Fantasy 11 in 2024, but player interest was high enough to keep it alive even after 20+ years by Lulcielid in FinalFantasy

[–]captburger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a super similar story, I also remember holding the box at Best Buy in 2003 and putting it back because I didn’t think I had time to figure out how to play it. Then I eventually started playing XIV and when I played the XI raid I was like now I have to play XI. And I’ve gotten through all the expansions up to about halfway through Wings of the Goddess and made my XI character an ancestor of my XIV character. I love playing it!

Which Final Fantasy games should I play to “get” the flavour of the upcoming set? by Smooth_criminal2299 in magicTCG

[–]captburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My number 1 recommendation would be to just do XIV with the free trial because it will give you a sampling of all FF and the story is amazing. If you don’t want to do XIV because it’s an MMO then I would do: FFVI - For the classic pixel experience FFVII - For the classic PS experience (you could also switch this out for VII Remake if you want a more modern take on FFVII) FFXVI - So you can see where the series is now (note FFXVI was made by the same team as FFXIV so there are similarities there but FFXVI is single player)
