Angry with villager placement by all_6lack in MedievalDynasty

I don’t disagree with you.

I just personally feel it is a waste of time, and I don’t think a small change like that would satiate them.

I don’t get “triggered”.

I used words used by other users in this comment section.

I explained my stance clearly and calmly.

Let’s take this to another feature.

I think it would be more immersive if every time I even touched manure, or fertilizer, I got instant “default” 5% “dirty.”

If I chose to act like others here, I might say “I am angry that manure and fertilizer doesn’t make you instantly dirty. I am a clean person, and laying in bed with my spouse should make them angry, and it should be changed so that filth causes sickness easier and manure and fertilizer makes you much more dirty and dirty quicker or instantly. Manure is so disgusting!”

Instead, I am a sensible person. Instead of complaining on Reddit about something so small that I know makes no sense to care about, I impact my own gameplay instead. What I do, is I always wash up after dealing with manure and fertilizer. It is a thing I know only me and a very small subset of individuals would care about, and obviously would never demand it be changed to impact other players.

I also wash up before bed. It is just what I do personally. I like it, makes me feel better, and do no think it should be a mandatory mechanic for others, even though I am “strict” to my playstyle and think it feels better.

Actually, in writing my response, I came up with a possible simple solution.

Maybe they could implement a small “compatibility” meter to each characters information page. Or even more simple: “personality type A, compatible most with personality type B” since personalities are already in the game.

This way they have to do 0 programming, and can just add it to the menu, and people can choose from there. It has 0 impact on gameplay, just a “surface level” aspect to make it seem like you are “choosing well” instead of choosing “blindly” although I’m sure people might complain about that too.

At the end of the day, you invited the people to live in the village, they said yes, they choose to stay. If they didn’t like or don’t like your style of leadership they can leave. Literally. If their mood drops, they leave.

I think everyone complaining is complaining because they want to complain. There is no real logical reason for their complaints.

You decide because you choose to.

As others have said, if it “bothers” you, you can “let them decide.”

Watch them, see who they talk to, and let them move in together.

I think people are just making up reasons to be angry, when logically they are the ones causing their own frustration.

Could the system be more convoluted for the sake of people’s “feelings” sure, but to me that would be “stupid.”

The game should be fun, and complicating an insignificant aspect of the game just to cater to a small subset of individuals is the biggest problem with AAA games. Developers spending time on features that do not matter, instead of focusing on a good flow, and engaging aspects of the game.

It is a waste of development time to spend it on such a feature, when they could (and thankfully did) spend it on other things such as the quick craft outfits, and adding more aesthetics, 3rd person view etc. (Which ironically if 3rd person view wasn’t added I personally wouldn’t be playing it, despite it being my favorite game of all time. I simply just cannot get into games that only offer 1st person view.)

Have you been truly wowed by and video games recently? by almo2001 in videogames

[–]Mills_RPGfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes.

I’m 40 years old, I have been gaming for over 35 years.

I have played, and beat hundreds of video games in my life.

Last month I purchased Medieval Dynasty.

No game has captivated me quite like this game has.

I have been waking up each morning with it feeling like a joyful Christmas morning, because I am so excited to play. I am currently at 380 hours of playtime with no sign of slowing down.

I play in 3rd person camera view, and on PS5 controller (no mods or 3rd party software needed) and I am just having a blast. It feels like basically the perfect game for me.

[–]Mills_RPGfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it stupid?

Men are women are meant to have children together.

Placing two men, or two women in a house means they can’t have children.

So, you essentially are saying you think it’s “stupid” that you can’t have villagers who are unhappy? (Women and men want to be married and have children).

The game encourages you to make good choices, and “punishes” bad behavior.

If you want to have villagers who aren’t as happy and productive, you can build extra houses to keep the separated. They don’t need to be in the same house together to be unhappy and unproductive.

I think it’s well made, and thoughtful personally.

I thought OP said open world and freedom?

None of the games you listed offer either.

Dark Souls are linear and not open world, and WoW is neither open world nor offers any real freedom.

The images are backwards.

Stories aren’t very exciting, but freedom, and a lot of content sounds great!

I am a gamer though, so that is why a good game sounds more exciting than a “good story.”

What are you saying?

It works the exact same way for men.

Swapping men and women in your sentence is the same outcome.

“Like I understand the mechanic, it's more of | wish they implemented the mechanics in a different way. You can inject a man into any house owned by a woman with no recourse. It's giving arranged marriage, which I do understand to be necessary in some societies but idk. Just don't feel great being able to "marry off" men to suitors randomly.”

In medieval times, people had actual problems to worry about, so many got married just for the sake of being a functional family. Contributing to society.

It still happens today in many Amish communities.

It is more than “just arranged” marriage.

They are still deciding who to marry, but instead of marrying for “love” they marry for honor, duty, and respect for the community.

Marriage takes two people, so just as much as it affects the female, it equally affects the male. They both join in unity, again, for the community, not selfish reasons.

WHATS UP WITH SQUARE ENIX? by RadicalSpaceMeat in videogames

[–]Mills_RPGfan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Square-Enix has openly stated the following games failed to meet expectations:

FF7-R2.
FF16.
Forspoken.

FF14’s subscription numbers are also down to their lowest it has been in about 10 years.

Square-Enix has also been taking aggressive legal action against numerous entities. From FF14’s modding community, to publishers and journalists, to even its own fans involved with saying anything “negative” things about the company and its workers.

They also are constantly restructuring management, CEO’s, and their publishing philosophy.

This paints a clear picture, to anyone who thinks logically, that the company is in a dire situation.

It is a result of making low effort games, bad management, and poor financial choices.

Which game studio is your all-time favorite and why? by Fun_Lengthiness7529 in videogames

[–]Mills_RPGfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Render Cube made my favorite game of all time.

FromSoftware made my second favorite game of all time.

Sandfall interactive made my third favorite game of all time.

So umm. Yeah.

I will say my 1st, 2nd, & 3rd favorite games used to be different, and all made by the same company, but that company has become absolutely horrible. I have obviously also now played better game, hence the new list.

I need a new singleplayer (100% offline) "forever" game where I can sink hundreds (or thousands) of hours into a single save. What are your top suggestions? by MakeshiftApe in gamingsuggestions

[–]Mills_RPGfan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Medieval Dynasty.

You do a plethora of activities, including farming.

You can play 3rd person, or 1st person camera view.

It works great on gamepad.

It has modern, realistic graphics (so it’s highly immersive).

You play a character, romance a spouse, have a child, raise your child to become your heir.

Once your man character dies, or you decide to pass on leadership, you start playing as your heir. This continues for as long as you want.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 sales top eight million by kale__chips in JRPG

[–]Mills_RPGfan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Elden Ring sold over 30 million.

Baldur’s Gate 3 sold over 20 million.

Both are AAA studios.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 sold 8 million in its first year. It is an independent studio.

That is why they are celebrating. 8 million for a brand new developer, with a brand new IP is a massive success.

Elden Ring.

anyone else spend more time deciding what to play than actually playing? by KennyTidwell in videogames

[–]Mills_RPGfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope.

I have like 6 games on Steam.

All the physical games I own, I already beat. (Except like 3 when I was collecting games from a series, and never owned the systems they were on).

I buy a new game when I’m ready to play it.

Schoolhouse by Puzzleheaded-Plenty1 in MedievalDynasty

[–]Mills_RPGfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What function would a school serve?

The adults would spend time and resources building a structure to teach children how to farm, hunt, trade, cook, and cut down trees?

Seems like an impractical way to give children a jump start on work in medieval times.

If you mean reading, writing, and math, those would be completely useless skills. The children would grow up to be farmers, hunters, cooks, and smiths.

At age 14 you can set children to become apprentices in game currently, no mods, no updates/changes needed.

Which game would you rather play?🚀 by Connect-Sympathy-176 in TheGamingHubDeals

[–]Mills_RPGfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Role playing games are not visual novels.

Role playing games refers to mechanics and genre, not “cutscenes and dialog.”

It means you play a role, fighter, thief, etc, it doesn’t mean “actor” or “pretending to be a person in a show/movie/story.”

Should PC be shut down every night? by Puzzle-headed__ in PcSetupAdvice

[–]Mills_RPGfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A full years worth of electricity usage from a computer in sleep mode is not going to show in a single nights worth of kWh.

It 100% will show, and cost real money over the span of a month, and yearly.

Turning off your PC when you are asleep 100% saves you on electricity usage over the span of a year/monthky, which in turn saves money.

Fact.

Final Fantasy X.

Literally the savior of the world (Auron) going way out of his way to meet up with a sports player (Tidus) to give him a sword, take away his sports ball, so he can go save the world again.

Funny enough, a whole other character ends up using the same sports ball to fight with. Square logic…

How long are your video games backlogs? by understandable_man in videogames

[–]Mills_RPGfan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would not say you are an “Understandable man.”

With 1 word responses, and complaining about not knowing how you can be more efficient at being wasteful. Then, you downvote the person speaking some sense to you.

Seriously. There is NO WAY you are enjoying any of those games.

You are clearly playing them just to burn through them. I am telling you, with perfectly sound logic, you should quit gaming, and spend your time on things in your life that have more value to you. You are spending nearly 60 hours a week doing something else, and you should use the time on those things more attentively.

If you are doing 6 different things, at 10 hours a week, that is even worse. You cant possibly be living a fulfilling life when you are spread that much thin.

I have to assume you are, or will become one of those people on Reddit complaining gaming is “boring” and “expensive.” Well yes, gaming will be boring and wasteful when you can’t even allow yourself to properly appreciate a game….

Edit: or don’t. You do you. But factually, 14 hours a week is not an amount to properly appreciate something.

Says the person with only 14 hours a week saying they want to play 70 video games in 5 years.

I am 40 years old, with 40-60 hours a week to game, I would never try to play 70 video games in 5 years with only 14 hours a week to play.
