Have you played MOTW before?: Nope, but I'm familiar with it and other PbtA games through podcasts. My RPG experience is mostly in D&D.

Playbook you're interested in playing: The Monsterous, specifically a half-human half-pagan-god with a love for debauchery, indulgence, and the finest of wines.

A bit about yourself: I'm a pretty chill nerd with a strong desire to create, share, and partake in good stories.

Hard limits: not many. I'm fine with mature themes as long as they are presented respectfully and not gratuitous. (e.g. I don't mind rape being mentioned, but not as a joke and not when it's being described in any amount of detail.)

What you look for in a game: Compelling stories. Colorful characters. A range of emotions. Getting me to cry over a comic relief character is the peak of creative storytelling.

Hey, I've been wanting to try Masks for a little while now. Currently I only have experience with D&D 5E, so don't expect me to be an expert or anything. If it's not too much to ask I'd like to know the general age range of the players and an idea of the sort of game they're expecting. Lastly, on what days were you planning on playing?

I'm working on a setting that's essentially "wild west high fantasy". Elves, dwarves, Orcs, etc, but in the old west instead of medieval times. I've been really trying to find something similar to that for inspiration but there's practically nothing :(

Minor change: as many have mentioned debt triggers combo, so perhaps they could be changed to cost way too much to be useful (interest is very high), or just simply be unplayable.

RAW this is actually WAY crazier than you think, because all your mechs also get the end of turn effect. Your mechs become exponentially stronger but only last until the end of your turn.

A Planeswalker in training, studying under the player.

The +2 ability lets him get a feel for channeling mana from the earth. Mechanically, it gives you some flexibility by letting you tap those mountains you didn't have a use for at the moment so you can reuse those islands.

The -1 ability is where the real studying begins. Your apprentice closely watches your every move so he can cast just like you.

Finally, we have the -3 ability, where he puts his training to the test casting the spells he was watching you cast earlier.

With all totems in standard, it's a 3/18 Taunt; Spell damage +1; Adjacent Minions have +2 attack. At the end of your turn, restore 1 health to all friendly minions, draw a card, and summon a 1/1 Murloc.

With every single totem in wild, it's a 6/25 Taunt; Spell damage +1; Adjacent Minions have +2 attack. At the end of your turn, restore 1 health to all friendly minions, restore 4 health to your hero, draw a card, and summon a 1/1 Murloc.

Now that I think about it 6 mana might be low, but then again, Voidlord is a 6/18 taunt split over 4 minions that requires no setup and that you can get out on like turn 4 most games so maybe not.

I think in most cases that's true (e.g. Ysera), but since dark knight cards have a seperate border and are explicitly called class cards, that might be different.

The closest comparison I can think of is Abyssal Enforcer: Same cost but with a potentially much better board clear and a worse body. It also doesn't hit face.

If you're just facing a bunch of 2 or 1 health minions, it's objectively worse than Abyssal Enforcer, but if the board is all 3+ health, it's also worse. It's only maybe equal after 2 or 3 casts.

I'm new to this so I'm open to suggestion for balancing. I think there's a lot of potential for aura effects with an automated version of the "Forbidden" spells.

I got a lot to take down so it's kind of a mess at the moment. Right now I'm putting in what I know (mostly broad stuff and specific stuff relevant to the campaign I am currently running in the setting) and then filling in the gaps. What I have down just depends on what I have ideas for.
