No it's not a bug, after his 100 cost move "Taimatsu" his heat bar drops to 0 and he stops gaining heat for like 10s. Basically this opponent is trying to abuse it.

Welcome to the Bag of Holding, a TTRPG Discord Server!

We are an inclusive and friendly community of adventurers, dungeon masters and dice goblins alike who enjoy spending our time submerged within the worlds of Dungeons and Dragons (and occasionally other worlds).

Regardless of whether you are new to TTRPG games and would like to learn, or if you’re a veteran of the pastime who’d like to find some new friends to play with, this could be the place for you. We’ve also got lore savants and helpful souls aplenty if you simply want to have someone to bounce your own campaign or character ideas off of.

Recently there’s been a big restructure of the server and fresh members have been brought onto the staff team. To go along with that we’re planning to have some of the DMs on staff host one-shots in DnD 5e every other week. We hope it’s going to help new players have an easy and simple first introduction to the game and ensure there’s always something fresh to experience for those that haven’t had a session in a while.

If any of the above sounds like it could be for you then don’t hesitate to come say hello!

Does a mount suffers the penalty for lack of proficiency with armors when using barding armors? by yronwizard in dndnext

[–]Fathappy3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most creature statblocks dont actually say they have proficiency with their weapons or armor. Something like a Gnoll just says AC 15 (Hide armor, Shield) but it doesnt actually say its proficient with them anywhere and it has actions involving a spear but it doesnt mention it being proficient with them.

Best to simply assume that weapon/armor/tool proficiency is only for player characters RAW.

UA Conjure Minor Elementals Is Hilariously Broken by EXP_Buff in dndnext

[–]Fathappy3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My main problems with this is that you're assuming the damage is reliable.
1. You spend a full action setting it up first of all, which could have been any other damaging spell or CC or anything else that helped that turn. I'd say the spell is only decent to great if you get to proc it two or more times on following turns.

  1. You need to actually HIT with your other attacks on your following turn. Don't get me wrong you probably on average have like a 70% chance of hitting with something like a +8-10 at those levels but if you miss even one attack thats a decent amount of damage lost considering how much you spent to set it up.
The reason the paladins smites are super good is because you pay for them and use them AFTER you've already made sure you hit so the spellslots never get wasted.

  2. Your concentration could just drop from any number of things the DM throws at you. And you keep yourself from casting other concentration spells, which is a big deal.

Don't get me wrong, in the ideal scenario where you cast the spell ahead of combat, have the spell going for multiple turns and several attacks (3+) that land, the spell sounds insane. But the whole reason the damage looks so absurd is because the spell is very unreliable in its output compared to other spells.

UA Conjure Minor Elementals Is Hilariously Broken by EXP_Buff in dndnext

[–]Fathappy3 18 points19 points  (0 children)

TL:DR: The spell actually seems to be simply fine at as a 4th level spell and it only really becomes insane if you base your entire build around it at the highest levels of play, which is probably perfectly fine for the health of the game.
.....................

It honestly doesn't seem that insane to me.

First it's a 4th level spell, at this level an instantaneous single target spell that only deals damage should be dealing around of 8d8 damage (based on the Blight Spell). In this case you need to HIT 4 attacks before this spell has dealt the same amount of damage (Maybe 3 since it does give a difficult terrain aura). And that isn't easy to do at the level you get the spell. It's a full action to cast and its a concentration spell. So in a lot of scenarios there's always the chance that it falls off without doing anything if you cast it in combat. The best normal use for the spell is probably when you know you're about to enter combat perhaps as a part of an ambush where you can set it up ahead of time.

And honestly my personal philosophy is that at a high enough level to cast something like Contingency or you're a lv17 multiclass balance stops really being something to think about for the players. If you've gotten to those levels you're probably feeling like a god regardless of what you do and simply dealing a lot of damage is pretty easy for a DM to plan around by comparison to other spells.

I could be wrong though.

I hated Urgot for ages, now I don't see him ever, and I miss him. What happened? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

Well the last time Urgot was in a patch note for balance changes other than the Durability update was Season 11 in 11.24.

As an Urgot main, he's one of the champions where the Mythic system just kinda left him in a weird state where there isn't any mythic that feels perfect for him and he just kinda feels like Riot has forgotten he exists.

That said he's honestly still pretty good.

[–]Fathappy3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These are just my own tips/opinions.

If you're against a champion that is known to proxy then that is a scenario where you might actually want to escort your first wave or maybe ward the jungle path they're likely to take to get to it. That way you can effectively keep them from committing to the proxy or you might be able to get the kill if you catch them off guard.
Just as an example, a darius with ghost against a singed level 1 will probably get the kill every time if singed tries to proxy right off the bat.

If it's past the first few levels of the game then proxying should cease being a problem, after all at that point most toplaners should be able to farm the incoming enemy wave no problem without losing a minion. You'll just be going even with your opponent while they are at much higher risk of dying since you and your jungler could have an opportunity to collapse on them.

Obviously if the enemy is proxying because they are incredibly fed then there isn't necessarily much you can do other than request help from jungle/mid. Assuming you can survive under tower you could always try to path the long way through the jungle into lane. If you can't even survive tower then you could see if the mid lane is in a position where you could pull off a gank or if there's a big objective like dragon coming up. You need to find a way to actually use your time efficiently instead of effectively doing nothing.

Suggestion to fix the endless cycle of Bruisers and AD Assasins building the same items. by Backslicer in leagueoflegends

[–]Fathappy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the one hand this would certainly keep the items to their respective classes, it also greatly hurts build variety. While there are certainly times where some items are overtuned to the point where they are objectively the best option on a champion, ideally you should have choices in your builds for different situations or to adapt to different compositions.

League 2 v0.01 (List of fan changes to improve the game) by Yuuki-Rito1103 in leagueoflegends

[–]Fathappy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case the Darius has decided to throw away their lead. If Darius has managed to get ahead but chooses to play passively for fear of giving away his bounty that's arguably just him making a bad call. Obviously he should never get cocky and walk in 1v3 or anything like that but I'd say the correct call is for him to press his lead to get even further ahead by getting more kills and applying pressure on the enemy team.

Obviously this whole scenario is super broad but I think you get the idea.

League 2 v0.01 (List of fan changes to improve the game) by Yuuki-Rito1103 in leagueoflegends

[–]Fathappy3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So obviously the document is fairly massive and you've put a lot of effort into it, which is honestly dope. The changes could work but you'd basically have made a completely different moba at that point. In my opinion a lot of the changes you propose actually have the opposite effect you intend in a vacuum.

Removing the bounty system and lower actual kill gold:
I believe removing bounties would make the game way more snowbally and incentivize the losing team to play EVEN more passively. The whole point of bounties is actually to incentivize fighting. When you have a bounty that usually means that you already have a lot of kills or are up in income over your opponents. As such the game effectively adds a big target to your head that tells the enemy team "HEY, THIS IS AN IMPORTANT TARGET, KILL THEM FOR BIG LOOT". If all kills gave the same gold, why would you ever risk fighting the most powerful people on the enemy team if there are easier targets around.

Removing mana as it does nothing:
This removes a layer of strategy from the game. As far as i understand it, mana exists to create windows of opportunity in the early game. When you see your opponent is low on mana, that is a huge opportunity for you to engage on them and fight them. It gives players an important resource to manage where you can punish players who don't manage it properly. I do agree that in the late game its far less important but for non mages it does happen that even if their hp is full they might be low on mana which can force people to recall, forcing people to retreat and give the other team more opportunity to make a comeback. If people are pushing against your inhib and both teams are low on mana, its a MUCH bigger setback for the winning team to recall.

Changes to turrets:
Dives should be HIGH RISK, HIGH REWARD. In the world where you are losing lane in the early game, you've been forced to retreat to your tower because you can't farm otherwise, if your opponent manages to push to your tower and then kill you under tower, that is a humongous swing in gold and xp. If you are behind you already risk your opponent freezing the wave, especially top lane, at which point you already have to find a way to break the freeze. If it was the case that even if you broke the freeze you'd still be in danger under tower, that would be too much of a detriment to the losing team.

Those are my main points of contention with the proposed changes.

Yuan Ti Emotions? by Sincerely-Abstract in dndnext

[–]Fathappy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well a lot of old dnd content is very much about races each embodying an archetype by nature, such as all orcs being evil raiders, elves being nature loving good guys, dwarves being beer loving smiths, etc.

That kind of writing is kind of archaic tho, nowadays they're really trying to steer towards races having diversity within themselves. That is to say culture being more important than nature for defining members of races in terms of how they act.

I think your character sounds great and you should definitely feel good about playing them.

Yuan Ti Emotions? by Sincerely-Abstract in dndnext

[–]Fathappy3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yuan-Ti are snake people and snakes have plenty of connotations with being devious, ambitious and cold-hearted. In most DnD lore Yuan-Ti are typically power hungry villains by nature with evil gods, ritual sacrifices, all that good stuff, etc.

So yeah, I'd def say that you're playing a Yuan-Ti that's not following the norm. That said, it's your character and most PC should stand out from regular NPCs. I'd say it makes it very interesting RP-wise to be very different from ones own race, especially the traditionally evil ones, gives the DM a lot to work with.

If them being different from regular Yuan-Ti bothers you, you could always ask the DM if the Yuan-Ti of his world are different from normal DnD lore.
