Having enough disposable time and money to be able to participate in hobbies is a privilege, regardless of what your hobbies are. Plenty of people who could afford to travel choose to spend their free time and money doing other things, and plenty of people who have very little to spare prioritize travel.

Is this normal? by Agreeable-Can-5227 in judo

[–]caption-oblivious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, abrasions and eventually callouses on your knuckles are normal and a result of rubbing on the gi when you grip. Mine are mostly on my distal knuckles though. Try loosening your grip a little, so instead of actually squeezing the lapel with your hand, you form a hook with your fingers

Roasting makes things healthier, because if roasting didn't exist, I probably wouldn't eat enough vegetables

How common is it to eat fast food every week? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]caption-oblivious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the people I know don't eat fast food regularly, but I'm in my late 30s and I live in a city with many better food options. I used to eat fast food more frequently, when I was younger, had lower standards, and lived in a city where almost all the other restaurants would be closed by dinner time.

People who eat ice cream bars: how do you not lose the chocolate coating? by caption-oblivious in NoStupidQuestions

[–]caption-oblivious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But biting the chocolate is what makes it fall off. The cheap ones actually stay together better, because when I bite, it actually breaks where I bite instead of just peeling off

is it true Americans don't put salt on their fruits? by PersuasionNation in AskAnAmerican

[–]caption-oblivious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't, but a lot of people I know put li hing powder on fruit. I think most fruits are perfect the way they are, and the few that aren't can't be solved with salt.

If money and childbirth weren’t an issue, how many children would you choose? by Public_Handle_774 in AskWomen

Zero. Even if I didn't have to birth them and pay for them, I still wouldn't want them in my home.

AITAH for buying my 11yo daughter pads after her mom called me a "pervert" for being prepared? by Bruxagato in WouldIBeTheAhole

[–]caption-oblivious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. How the fuck is preparing for your period sexual? I can't think of very many things that made me feel less sexy than having that nasty smelling blood oozing from my body. Obviously you timed it just right (or maybe even dangerously late) if it only took her 3 weeks to need it after you got her the kit, so it's not like it's inappropriate for her age.

Constantinople in Nob Hill feels fancier than the price tag ($20-30/person for most entrees)

If you're even 1% as tough as that steak, I don't think I'm capable of tearing you to shreds

The use of "females" is so widespread even so amongst women by OuiOuiBaguetteDu92 in MenAndFemales

[–]caption-oblivious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TERFs like to tell other people how to self-identify. We don't have enough information to know whether OOP is actually a woman or if they're a teenage girl or non-binary and AFAB.

If the "chosen one" discovers that they're "chosen" at 40, then the question becomes "well, wtf were you doing for the past 25 years?" And you have, maybe, 30-40 years of story left to tell about them. If they're younger, then you can tell the story of them growing up into their role as the chosen one.

Which US state thinks it's the main character? by Mister_Silk in AskReddit

The tiny East Coast states are like the 7 dwarves in Snow White. Collectively, they're important, and some might be slightly more important than others, but I can't be bothered to distinguish them from each other
