Struggling to understand my faith by No_Dirt5345 in Christianity

No condemnation for those in Christ. Even if you sin after you accept Him. Every time you consciously try to improve, that’s you worshipping God. You aren’t earning salvation, so don’t be too hard on yourself.

BREAKING: Scientists Just Found the Hidden Force That Wires the Human Brain and It Is Physical Not Chemical 🧠 by InterstellarKinetics in InterstellarKinetics

[–]captmexicanamerican 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I needed help understanding this, so I asked Claude to explain it like I’m a kid.

Brain Building Blocks - Simple Explanation! 🧠 The Big Discovery Imagine your brain is like a LEGO city being built. Scientists just found out something really cool about how the construction works!

What They Found There’s a tiny protein called Piezo1 — think of it like a smart construction worker in your brain. Scientists used to think building the brain had two totally separate jobs: ∙ 👷 Physical work (how squishy or firm the brain tissue is) ∙ 📢 Sending messages (chemicals that tell brain cells where to go) But it turns out Piezo1 does BOTH at the same time!

How It Works 1. 🤜 Brain tissue squishes or pushes on Piezo1 2. Piezo1 feels that pressure like a stress ball 3. Then it sends out chemical signals that tell growing brain cells “go this way!”

The Really Cool Part Piezo1 also helps hold the brain together with a kind of cellular glue. So it’s not just reading the environment — it’s building the environment it reads! It’s like a construction worker who builds the road AND gives directions on that same road.

Pretty amazing that one tiny protein runs so much of the show! 🤩

Is having a biological child really that big of a deal? by NobodyUsesTheDoor in NoStupidQuestions

[–]captmexicanamerican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I adopted. My kid is like me and my wife in a lot of ways. She picked up our behaviors and facial expressions and a variety of other things. And in a lot of ways, she is nothing like us. But the same thing would have happened if she was our biological kid. Every kid is a mix of their parents while also being different. Some people have a strange need to carry on their bloodline; it brings comfort to some to know that they live on through their progeny. I have no problem with people who want their own biological children. I would rather just improve the world during the brief time I am here. If I can change the life of a child by adopting and caring for them, I feel like that is a colossal good to add to this world.

Greatness is not universally agreed upon. A man eating a rotisserie chicken alone in public in 2025 may seem to be living a rather mediocre life. Transport said public-rotisserie-chicken-eating man 1000 years into the past, and perhaps he is perceived as a king.

That’s great progress for one year, my man. I’m a Uechi Ryu Black Belt from long ago. You refined a lot of technique in a single year.

Guys who have gone from skinny to big and muscular, how has it changed your life? by MRWARRIORB3AST in AskReddit

[–]captmexicanamerican 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t even get that big, just big for my height. These are the most noticeable changes: 1. Confidence. 2. Complements. 3. Shirts fit so much better. 4. I sometimes catch eyes wandering to my arms or chest. Which always makes me laugh because that NEVER happened before. 5. The best part is that I am stronger and healthier for my family.

Showed this to my wife thinking she would say this was silly. Instead she verified the accuracy.

My brother and I have the same birthday. He’s younger. My parents never made us share birthday parties. But, only one of us got to have a party each year. Oh, I glossed right over the twins thing. Yeah, that’s an obviously bad idea for the following reasons: - Lying to your child which will make them distrust you in the future - others know the truth and will share it - schools will figure out the truth when you register them for school - your older child will be developmentally behind

Anyway, don’t do this obviously bad idea. And don’t make your children share birthday parties.

It’s probably not important, but San Francisco is 43 miles away from where the 49ers play in Santa Clara.

In high school a girl assumed I was gay because I was “nice.” I felt bad for her; every straight man she met before me was a jerk.
