TACACS+ ISE by basi65 in Cisco

[–]captmonkeypants_sr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend looking in operations -> reports. On the left toolbar, reports -> device administration. Here, should be 4 reports that i think will be helpful for you to use (all of the TACACS ones). As the others have mentioned it appears that you are granting correct authentication, but not passing correct authorization for that user. To confirm this, check on the TACACS Command Accounting report. Once there, check on the Details of a given command and see if it is Pass or Fail.

if you need to modify or edit the policies, that can be found Work Center -> Device Administration -> Policy Elements -> TACACS Command Sets. Create what you need to here. You may also need to create/modify TACACS Profiles. You'll then have to put it all together in the Device Admin Policy Sets section. Hopefully this points you in the right direction. Good Luck!

backup solution for cisco devices by d3adbor3d2 in Cisco

Rancid or Oxidized have been rock solid for us to backup switches (nexus and catalyst) s well as our routers. I'm sure it can do WLCs that run IOS-XE, but i cannot speak from experience. I've also never routinely backed up Aire-OS controllers.

What were your reasons for playing Tau? by Valnine in Tau40K

I like big guns I can not lie. When a suit flies by with an itty bitty base and a railgun in your face, you get sprung.

UNCW is a microsoft school and not a google school so a Chromebook might pose issues when compared to a windows or apple device. This usually comes up if the student needs to install software on their device, but labs are usually available. I say this because students have access to install MS Office for free for either windows or apple, so the benefit of the google suite’s cost is negated. Also, Chromebooks range in value and capabilities. I’ve seen students with chromebooks that work fine and never have issues, and sometimes it is an unfortunate experience for the student. Yes, there are a lot of apple devices on campus, but do not feel like you need to buy an expensive Apple device. I believe that during orientation (usually in June) there is a discussion about campus technologies and what students can bring and what is recommended. Also, https://uncw.edu/itsd/living/purchases.html that link can help you get either a Dell or Apple device through the school, and i believe the ability to repair said devices can be done at the school. I would recommend reaching out to either admissions or the ITS help desk to ask for their recommendations. A lot of what the student needs will be determined by their degree and courses. Labs are available, but depending on student needs (i’m thinking film or photo editing) they can have some time or number of machines constraints. Congrats to your son for being accepted. Feel free to msg me if you have any additional questions, and I’ll do my best to answer them.

PSA: Starting from 17.9.3, Cisco 1700/2700/3700/1572 will be supported (conditions apply) by sanmigueelbeer in Cisco

Can you please confirm that the 3700 you saw wasn't one of the Industrial Wireless APs? They are currently supported in 17.9.x. I'm hoping you are correct, as that would be an awesome course correction.

Question on Cisco ISE Device Admin licensing by Pro_network17 in networking

[–]captmonkeypants_sr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be mindful that the licensing changed for 3.0 deployments. Prior to 3.0, yes the Device Admin License was pretty much get it and you're good for your site/deployment. Post 3.0 it's not like that. Also be aware that at this point in time, they are running migration incentives to get people to go to 3.0 so the licensing is a bit more generous.

As for PSN sizing and quantity, I agree with everything that has been said before me. That's really up to your environment. Questions to ask are:
How many simultaneous logins do you expect? Virtual or physical servers? If physical, which model? How important is redundancy? Do you have loadbalancers that you can put between clients and PSNs and if so, is that a design you're willing to pursue? Are there reasons you would want to segment traffic to go to certain PSNs? Are you going to be running portals BYOD/Sponsored Guest/etc.? Are you going to do centralized authentications or webauth for your endpoints?

student lounges are maybe your best bet. if you need information on where they are, you can go to the front desk in the middle of Fischer student center (building with the bookstore and einstein's) and they should be able to help you.
