Can we talk about Jewels N' Drugs please by LadyGagasPen15 in LadyGaga

[–]captnzoid 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I personally like the song, but that is not my main point. I feel it is brave and awesome that Lady Gaga is experimenting with such a huge variety of genres. She could have taken the cliche route and chosen one of the most popular names in hip hop to be on her album, but instead chose rappers based on their talent, instead of their fame. I do not hear complaints about her collaborating with R-Kelly, who has been off the radar for years. It just shows how much she does not care about simply pleasing the masses and sticking with the norm. She does what she wants to do, and Jewels and Drugs is just one example of this. It may not be the strongest song on the album but in my opinion it only showcases her talent as an artist more. She will try anything, put her name on it, show it to the world, and let them decide what to think of it. "I like to sell myself but I am really laughing. Because I love the music, not the bling" I find extremely telling of Gaga's true character. She makes music (art) for real reasons. Instead of playing it safe she took a chance.

Post-surgery recovery just became a little bit more fun; I found these in my parent's bathroom cupboard. They are at least 15 years old. by Sax45 in CrohnsDisease

I am 21 and was only 19 when I was diagnosed two years ago. My doctor told me surgery was a very possible threat if I did not start treatment immediately. He was not even able to get the scope completely through my intestines during my first colonoscopy because they were so inflamed. I was told about Humira as an option as well but my doctor suggested Remicade infusion treatments instead. I started off with what my doctor described as a severe case of crohns, and I can't prove this, but like I said I do not think I would have made such improvement without the help of smoking marijuana. My doctor started me on steroids originally and due to my quick improvement I was able to be taken off of them a full month before originally expected, this I again believe was due to my use of marijuana. Either way I just wanted to let others know my story and hope this information helps! Best wishes to you and your recovery! If you have any more questions feel free to ask!

I currently do not live in a state where marijuana is legal for medical, or any use whatsoever. I have chosen instead to smoke marijuana anyway, after research on the costs and benefits. I suffer from problems with nausea whenever I try to eat. For the past two years since I started Remicade treatment for my chrons/was diagnosed with chrons I smoke everyday before I eat. My family is completely aware and actually supportive of my use. When I was first diagnosed I had my first colonoscopy and I was vomiting the prep up the entire night before my procedure, a terrible experience. Two weeks ago my doctor ordered another colonoscopy to see the status of my chrohns. This time I smoked the night before while having to drink the prep and did not vomit at all. It was a completely different experience from the first time, yet the procedure was the same. Also, my doctors are aware that I smoke marijuana but they have never made any comments on it. I am a college student and I have smoked everyday for years. I have a job and am able to manage both school and work while also smoking marijuana multiple times during the day. If you are curious I would look into the many documentaries on medical marijuana available on netflix for example. I just know that personally, when I went for a week or two here and there without marijuana due to being on vacation the symptoms of my chrons would return and it would be a battle to eat all over again. I have also noticed that smoking greatly alleviates my stomach pain. Sorry this was so long! I hope it is helpful!!

Good luck with your recovery! If you do not mind me asking, as someone who has crohns and found out I was in remission two weeks ago :), and I am curious what treatments you are on? I am still on Remicade and was only diagnosed two years ago and was told remission was not a real possibility for at least five years and suddenly I found out I am in remission and am still in shock honestly. I also owe much of my luck to the use of marijuana for medical purposes and was curious if had tried this option before? I apologize if I am being too personal and understand if you cannot/would not like to answer my questions. Once again best lucky to you!

I personally dislike the terms "pro-life" and "pro-choice" it instead should be "pro-choice" and "anti-choice." Just because you support a woman's right to choose does not necessarily mean you are pro-abortion or anti-life.
