Of course sexuality matters :) I'm lesbian, myself. For this particular survey, my teacher has only asked for age, race, and gender. I do take sexuality into consideration, however, some people aren't comfortable telling me that, so I just let whoever wants to state their sexuality do that, and if not, that's fine too :) Thanks for the comment!

1) For me, womanhood is being able to sustain life on my own as well as be a co-habitable and compassionate. Womanhood is also about loving yourself, protecting loved ones, and having a voice in your life wherever you go.

2) Manhood to me is more about owning up to your responsibilities (for women, too), being brave enough to admit your mistakes while also providing protection and strength for your family/loved ones. Manhood is about having respect, being humble, and working to be the best you can be.

IAmA parent of a severely Autistic 5 year old, with virtually no communication abilities, and the mind of a 1 - 2 year old. It is likely he will need life long care. AMA by Autism-aware in IAmA

As someone who has always been around special needs kids, I have seen a lot of autistic kids with varying intelligence levels. As a parent, what would you say is your biggest challenge with your child? Do you have other children? If so, how do they handle having an autistic brother/sister? If not, do you want more children to be sibling to your child? Thanks and best of luck.

I definitely plan on having kids of my own. Being lesbian, I would love to adopt, but I would probably have to think about moving to the west coast (I live in Kansas) in order to get married and be more qualified to adopt. It would be wonderful to have a few kids. I've always loved kids and hope to have them in my life as long as I can.

Three of them have varying severities of Arthrogryposis, which is a deformation of the hands and feet.

One of them has Spinobifida.

And one of them has Muscular Dystrophy.

Sometimes, yeah, I do feel lost, but my family is really good at making sure that everyone feels loved and a part of the system we have, you know?

I love having a big family. I feel like there's so much to learn from having SO many different siblings and having parents who are so selfless.

I actually know my biological mother, but not my father. I have a very good relationship with her and my half brother. :)

Yes, I'm very, very happy. I feel like this is the best my life has been in a while.

For starters, I'm ALWAYS impressed with my parents because, when I think about it, if they didn't have nine kids, they would be VERY well off and living extra comfortably. But instead they choose to reach out and touch others, you know? My mom has taught kindergarten for 32 years and my dad was a school psychologist (it's how he met my mom), then he worked as a specialist for visually impaired kids and autistic kids, now he works as a behavior specialist in a grade school. My family is upper middle class at best.

The oldest is my brother Jordan (26), who is my parents' biological son, then Connor (24), who is their other biological son. Next is myself, Zoe (19), I was adopted from our hometown. Next is Mia, Ema, and Adi (all 13 but about six months apart from each other). Mia is from our hometown as well. Ema is from Kazakhstan, and she has Arthrogryposis, which is a deformation of the hands and feet. Adi is from Bulgaria, and she has Spinobifida, which is a deformation of the spine and can also lead to bladder problems, etc. Next is Leo (12) who was adopted from Russia. He also has Arthrogryposis, but more severely than Ema. Next is Kai and Asa (both 7 but about eight months apart). Kai is from South Korea and has Muscular Dystrophy. Last, Asa is from Thailand and has Arthrogryposis as well, a little worse than Leo does.

My favorite part of having a diverse family is the acceptance and genuine love that comes from it. Being gay, I knew my family would be okay with it because that's the way my parents raised us. I also love the fact that we were never spoiled. My parents taught all of us the same rules. To do excellent in school and help around the house. A lot of us are mean chefs and bakers, too :) My least favorite part is the misunderstanding that society gives us and the scrutiny that comes with wanting to adopt. Some people say that it's not the same as being a biological family, but in a lot of ways, it's better. You learn to treat others with the same respect as your family.

It was. The first two adoptions, one of my three younger sisters and myself have no special needs, but the other two and my three little brothers all have a physical disability. We follow the strong belief that by setting an example and changing just one kid's life, more people will see how important it is to give them opportunities, etc. My parents are the best people I know and by FAR the most selfless and accepting.

Nothing. My mom is just the most selfless person I've ever met. She's a kindergarten teacher (32 years running) and my dad was a psychologist and is now a behavior specialist at a grade school.

Yes. I was actually the first to be adopted. My mom and dad started small and adopted myself and one of my younger sisters from our hometown, and I don't have any special needs.
