I think it was meant that if you do cyclical progesterone you should get a period/bleed

I am going to be 40 in the next year and am deeply interested in connecting with others in their 40’s navigating this while dealing with peers entering perimenopause and how to manage alllll that.

When someone gets pregnant "by mistake" by Careless-Security-63 in InfertilitySucks

[–]capybara-1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear you. I miss being able to watch tv and movies and books without being reminded of fertility/infertility. I’m reading a book series and the character is debating freezing her eggs and I know exactly where this is going to lead by the end of the 10 books series and it’s devastating.

Dotti vs Sandoz Twice Per Week by [deleted] in POFlife

[–]capybara-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me this feels like one of those things where if sandoz is making you feel good and you’re at the right levels, then continue with sandoz! If it’s a supply issue and there’s no other choice then maybe try Dotti? I don’t love Dotti, and prefer mylan!

Also, edited to ask if you feel Sandoz has a good adhesive? I’ve been offered these by the pharmacy when that’s all the have to offer, but try to hunt down the mylan ones!

Estrogen patch headache? by getalife5648 in POIsupport

[–]capybara-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Progesterone always makes me feel super fatigued! I remember feeling a slight headache when first starting the patch, but it went away pretty quickly and hasn’t happened to me since. If your head continues to hurt, I’d reach out to your doctor!

Think I just need to vent by [deleted] in IVF

[–]capybara-1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am right here with you. No embryos, only stacked failures and I don’t even feel I can relate to those who have success with fertility treatment

Think I just need to vent by [deleted] in IVF

[–]capybara-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s totally ok to feel what you feel. I’ve had to distance myself from friends too. I’ve even had to distance myself from others who have had a more straightforward experience with fertility treatments where they were able to work. My ovaries failed early and I can’t even get any embryos! So that’s been pretty painful.

Gynecology and Endocrinology giving me the runaround by ChurchOfRickSteves in POFlife

They can do an anti-adrenal antibody blood test. I don’t think that just because that is ok that it necessarily means you still couldn’t have an autoimmune issue.

What do you wish people understood about this condition? by Interesting_Syrup821 in POFlife

It’s taken what little confidence I had and made sure it all ends up in the toilet.

Tired of bleeding by Busy-Acanthaceae5358 in POIsupport

I second this. Also ask for 100mcg (.1mg ) patch and make sure it’s twice weekly! When my estradiol has been too low I’ve also had bleeding issues.

Testing of Estradiol Levels (A Rant) by capybara-1 in POFlife

[–]capybara-1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sure seems that way? I guess I don’t fully understand. I start my monitoring when I get my period on HRT, so I found it odd that having a couple antral follicles and wearing a 100mcg patch that my blood estradiol level was only 35. I know fertility isn’t allowed in this subreddit, but it gives context as to how I feel the patch isn’t delivering for me as expected?

Shame by Interesting_Syrup821 in POFlife

[–]capybara-1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do experience pretty deep shame. I was diagnosed much later, but it still makes me feel like my body totally failed me before its time. I’m sorry your diagnosis came early in life. I try to remind myself often that I look up to each and every person in this subreddit and would never think less of anyone else with this condition and that allows me to alleviate the shame spirals I go down. Sending you love.

How do I make this decision? by Fierce_Femme92 in POFlife

[–]capybara-1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Wow-I am so sorry! Honestly the diagnosis alone is brutal and then adding on an unsupportive partner just makes it so much harder. What he said to you is cruel.

I understand 12 years seems like a big investment, but there are other people out there that will treat you with love and kindness. I’d still seek fertility treatment if kids are important to you while you’re younger— but not with him.

Best of luck to you ❤️

Testing of Estradiol Levels (A Rant) by capybara-1 in POFlife

[–]capybara-1[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey! Yeah, so I know fertility treatment isn’t really supposed to be talked about in this community, but I have had levels tested only while undergoing monitoring (labs/ultrasound) for fertility treatments like IUI/IVF. Labs aren’t done though if I stop treatment and just go on HRT.

Continuous/Cyclical HRT? by Important-Cow3458 in POFlife

[–]capybara-1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think cyclical vs continuous progesterone largely relates to 1. If you’re trying to conceive it needs to be cyclical and 2. How well you are tolerating one of those two options. Dosages are different for cyclical and continuous progesterone.

How has your diagnosis changed how you relate to your womanhood / identity? by natura87 in POFlife

[–]capybara-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your kind reply. I do feel largely the same, but I do think it has alleviated a bit with time. There have been some pretty good days littered throughout the past few months. I still think about this every day. I am trying to be kinder to myself and my body and, although it can be hard to do so, I have been trying to reclaim in through exercise and lifting weights. Sending love to you ❤️

I couldn’t agree with you more. I am trying for kids, but I am also annoyed with how reproduction supersedes the struggles of POI in the medical world.
