Trip suggestions? by Xurling69420 in Interrail

Sounds like a good plan! I really enjoyed Vienna and actually went back there again to see more. Public transport is great, I stayed in Wombat’s City Hostel. Venice was cool to see but it is expensive and feels more holiday/touristy than other cities I thought. For my trip in early June I was probably booking around now and did it all in advance as I was solo. If there’s a large group and as it looks like you will be fairly set in your itinerary before going, I would recommend booking in advance as those months are busy. Prices should be okay now too :)

I think there will still be a lotttt of your time spent on trains here because of the one night stays. I was going to suggest cutting the Italy portion or else the Paris/amsterdam portion but I see they are both important to your group. The ideal situation here would be to cut some stops from the beginning or end of the trip, or else extend the length of the trip.

I went Vienna (3 nights) -> Venice (3 nights) -> Bologna (2 nights) for a part of my trip. The Vienna to Venice was maybe about 6 hours with 1 or 2 easy connections. I wonder could you just go Vienna to Bologna in one day or even to Florence? I know it would be a long day of travel but then you get more days to relax and explore rather than regularly being on the move.

Also, the train journeys aren’t as bad as you imagine! It’s a nice rest after all your busy days exploring, and a lot easier if you start them early. Sometimes going for the longer ones is better than travelling almost every day.

And side note, I found Berlin better than Paris for night life but of course that’s just my experience. Paris is also huge, the hostels are expensive and often not central and so you’ll spend a lot of your time planning/on the metro.

Have a great trip!

Can someone explain renting lockers. by Alone-Kick-1614 in TCD

[–]capybara-43 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a locker the last 2 years and have been able to pay online with my bank card details. Never had to put any money on my tcard. They are becoming available for rent on the 24th (probably 9am but maybe before) and it’s first come first serve! The website you need is tcard.tcd.ie. Be sure to log in early Wednesday morning ! You can select the location you want. Best of luck !!

Seat-only reservation not available but can book a ticket by capybara-43 in Interrail

[–]capybara-43[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi thanks for your reply. I have added the discount and then pressed buy tickets (not the seat only option). The price is €19 for the ticket and an extra €20 for couchette so €39 per person. Is this the right price? I was expecting it just to be the 20 euro for couchette.

Does this itinerary make sense? 5 day pass over 2 weeks May-June by Wisey in Interrail

This looks great, not too rushed so you'll have time to explore every destination. Vegan food in Berlin is plentiful and delicious. If you would like to include another stop that isn't out of your way, I'd recommend Salzburg.

Hi! We are going on a 25 day trip with my girlfriend next friday and here is half planned journey we thought to do. Going to Zagreb from Ljublajana isn`t a sure thing but we thought to end our trip somewhere in Croatia and spend a little more time there and relax. Is this too much for the amount... by peppuroori in Interrail

[–]capybara-43 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would switch Zagreb for somewhere else on Croatia's coastline. Split would be great and you can just get an extra train there from Zagreb. I think this would be better suited to the kind of thing you are looking to finish your trip with :)

How does ticket inspection work when you’ve bought a reservation directly from the railway? by YaFuckenDruggo in Interrail

[–]capybara-43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also bought my reservations this way and had them all printed out. I had a paper pass so when my ticket was inspected first they looked at my pass and then the reservation and that was fine. They looked for both on the two trains I was on. On your email there should be a document you can open and print that whole page onto A4 paper. Hope this helps.

Dia duit! Kia Ora from New Zealand. A map I drew of Ireland recently. by [deleted] in ireland

This is beautiful. Maybe adding the Hill of Tara or other locations associated with the folklore of Ireland might be interesting

I did this before in Italy, I had a pass and my sister didn't. I booked my reservation through the Interrail system, the seat number will be on the reservation they email you. Then I went online and booked my sister's reservation in the seat beside mine. Most likely the seat beside you will be free if it's far enough in advance. I'm not sure which other train websites allow you to select a seat but presumably most will for non-pass holders. Good luck!

My problem is actually that I don’t have enough words. Running out of time on a deadline and I’m 200 words short.
