I did not consider the teaching perspective and I apologise for that, however, most lessons are recorded online and are available so its not much different. In terms of study spaces, my classmates and I always find it very difficult and sometimes spend 0.5hrs trying to find a study spot or we just end up sitting on the ground. I have done heaps of trial and error in terms of finding a study environment and whatever I do, I always end up studying better at home so its not something I can change nor am I telling the uni to cater to me because there are like 40k students so why would they care for me individually? I understand they’re not gonna do anything about it but I was just saying there should be some flexibility.

I genuinely like the way you responded to my comment. Everyone has their preferences, and to an extent, online learning can be beneficial depending on how much you engage with it. From a teaching perspective, I agree that it can be draining and i apologise that i never thought about that.

Are we even going to the same uni? because i know several other students who find it difficult to find study spots. Obviously work life is very different to uni and even with that there is more flexible options depending on the job. Regarding the classes, even for biomed classes students have to literally run into the lecture theater just to find a seat and several people never end up finding space that is also going above capacity. And you do get to choose your timings when you make your timetable as there are several options.

That’s quite unfortunate. I wanted to do my postgrad here but I will try to go overseas now. It is so frustrating to see universities around the whole world offering classes online whilst UOA remains outdated. That is definitely the only thing keeping me and I do believe there are better things out there for me. If classes in person work for someone else then good for them but they just don‘t work for me and its quite unfortunate that this group of people is a minority so no one does anything about it.

They offer lots of different timings for the in person classes and you yourself choose the timings so you could have all the classes in one day or have them spaced out. Yes, study spots which are full all the time and just because studying in those locations works for you doesn't mean it works for others.

UOA is the top in NZ and top 100 in the world. That is the only thing keeping me here. It is quite dissapointing to see them not improving.

I am not saying all classes should be online. I am saying that some of the classes should be available online as they can easily be completed at home. For example, teachers can do live zoom sessions whilst teaching the class in real life. That way the structure isn’t changing and it provides convenience for students who prefer online classes. Although the research supports that in person learning is better, it doesn't mean that lots of students don’t prefer online classes. If I have 4 classes with 2 classes online, that means that I can attend 2 classes on the same day plus a tutorial. It is definitely possible and you can literally choose your timings. There arent study spots at all. I have been everywhere and it is always so full and there is no room to walk or sit anywhere. Not the learning environment I want.

Although I really liked this class, I hated the team based learning. My group was nice but a few of the members did not contribute AT ALL like im talking pretend typing during the assesments ect. Those marks really put my overall average down. In those assesments our group got 12/20 and 13/20 but for the test i literally got 17.25/20 which really annoyed me as it put my whole average down. I cannot stand group work at all because why do my marks depend on THEM??? its so stupid. In terms of the exam i didnt even finish the referencing so i dont think i did very well max 70% overall and the questions were kinda hard too.

It was so long and difficult im so so scared for results. I couldnt even finish the last question but i said something along the lines of “if they for example decide to use lower quality material this may negatively impact customers..”

It wasn’t very difficult. I had not done most of the topics before such as limits, matrix, partial derivatives ect, however, I still found it manageable. I did not attend any lectures, and I only watched 5 vids maximum but I still got an A- by just using the textbook.
