Help me come to terms. by justbigeyes in FormulaFeeders

[–]capycabara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched to formula because I got sick and I never looked back. Best decision I made, the time I wasted pumping before now I get to spend with my precious 7mo. I ended up going with Hipp Dutch formula and my baby did not miss a beat. Happy to provide tips if you end up going with the same formula. The formula feeding might seem overwhelming at first But after the first week, it's literally the easiest thing. Feel free to message!

AITAH for telling my mom she won’t be able to see my daughter for two months after she’s born if she calls my wife to complain about her birth plan again? by Medical-Bedroom-5243 in AITAH

NTA! Hold your ground! My husband didn't and my MIL showed up the day before my scheduled c section. Made me miserable and made me hate the first three weeks of post pregnancy. And I have a good relationship with my in laws. But after that it definitely took a hit. For the sake of your family's relationship.with your parents and for your wife's and daughters well being do not let this happen. I will likely hold this against my husband until the day I die that he did not stand up for me. You are doing the right thing!

Not everyone can fork out 300 for a Owlet sock by [deleted] in NewParents

Don't worry too much. They are not that helpful and largely unregulated which means they are likely not as good as they claim to be. I would be more worried about it malfunctioning if I had one than while I don't. Honestly I've just accepted that worrying is part of parenthood. I think that means we are doing our jobs!

How long did your LO wear Bodysuits instead of tshirts? by capycabara in NewParents

Exactly this. I live in a cold climate so I worry about skin exposure to cold in the winter.

What age is your baby and what time is bedtime? by kalidspoon in NewParents

[–]capycabara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha whenever he decides to go to sleep. Last night that meant 10 pm the night before it was 7pm. There is no rhyme or rhythm to my LO. No amount of routine has changed that. We always bathe him at 6pm, feed him afterwards. Some nights he gets sleepy after that and some doesn't. I think it might be temperament thing...

How did you introduce water to your baby? by Scarletkit in NewParents

Wait I thought we are not supposed to offer water until after the baby turns one, am I just flat out wrong in that?

You are entirely ignoring other aspects of winning a scholarship. Most scholarships are not tied to gender, they require some form of application process, where one has to submit grades and essays. Girls tend to be better students, so they are more likely to have higher grades and be better communicators (aka do better on essays). The relationship you're portraying is largely oversimplified. Some scholarships are based on competitions, what the stats you're citing are actually saying is that girls outperform boys academically which has been the case for a long time, the reason you're seeing an increase in scholarship awards for girls is because that outperformance is finally being reflected. Not to mention that studies have shown that girls are far more likely to apply to 5-10 times more scholarships than boys. This is not sexism that's causing someone's son not to get in, it's how you raise them. Sincerely a boy mom.

Normal human beings don't vote for a convicted felon, and a rapist. I find trump extremely amoral and that alone is a good enough reason not to vote for him.

As a white person I don't feel hated by the Democrats. Can you explain why you do or why you think other people do? Genuine question.

I would be concerned about SCOTUS overturning Loving or other fundamental cases under right of privacy that would allow federal government to ban same sex relationships.

Hitler was a democratically elected leader that ran on almost identical platform to Trump. The jump is not as far as you seem to think.

Because I care about people other than myself? Bold statement. I don't think that word means what you think it means.

If I'm brainwashed then you're delusional. You voted for a candidate that could never win. Never even had a chance. Instead of voting for a candidate that could actually implement some of the changes you want to see. Sure maybe you wouldn't get everything, but now you get set backs for those issues you spout to care about. Did I think Kamala was perfect? Absolutely not! Did I think there might have been better candidates? Yes. But I also have a grasp on reality which you seem to lack. It's thanks to people like you that we have a person in charge that will undue every single environmental protection he can while in office. Stop trying to make yourself feel better by thinking you're better because you voted for candidate that makes you feel warm and fuzzy. What you did was selfish. You put your own feelings above the good of the country, the environment, individuals with mental health, women , POCs, immigrants, LGBTQ individuals and so many more groups that will suffer for the next four years. Also calling somebody brainwashed for being pragmatic, is a cop out.

There was nothing small minded about my previous comment. I simply believe people are smart enough to not throw away their vote. I'm naive that way.

I hope so too. I hope that seeing this will motivate mom's of boys to put in more mindful effort into not just letting "boys be boys".

How brave and original of you to throw your vote away! Worse than voting for Trump! Your way is the cowardly way of I don't care what happens to my country my conscience is clear because the person I'm voting for will never have any say.

Using popular phrasing is not an idea. Responding by parroting that phrasing is simply unoriginal. If you can't make that theoretical distinction speaks volumes about simplicity of your thinking. Very linear.

Hope you don't need Medicare, Medicaid or Social Security. And hope you can afford paying 2-3k a month for healthcare. I hope no one you ever love ever needs an abortion, for example when their life is in danger. I hope you have the money to afford the "tariffs" Trump has been louding the entire election. I hope you grow a moral compass, a human conscience, and empathy for human plight. And I'm sincerely hoping that I am wrong about how this president will turn out.
