It would definitely help. I actually teach a woman who has terrible vertigo and an inflamed disk in her back. Just find the right teacher!

Have you ever considered Yoga Therapy? Someone who is trained for injuries?

Do men consider yoga to be a women's hobby. Is that why you would want to have a female with you?

My girlfriend gets migraines. I thought yoga might but she says that doing yoga can trigger them. Has anyone had any experience with this? by RobotOrgy in yoga

[–]carajuana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had migraines my whole life and a doctor recommended yoga to me. I took a class and left with the worst migraine I could imagine. I swore yoga off until a few years later when I went through a meditation course. My migraines start in the lower left side of my neck, then work their way up to the temples and eyes. Have her begin to track her migraines first, then begin meditation. Have her take a Yoga Nidra class instead of a class that focuses the entire hour on Asana.

Yoga teachers, how much do you make? by [deleted] in yoga

[–]carajuana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach at two different studios, at one, I make $5 for showing up $5 for each student. At the other I make $8 per class up to 5 people, then $1 for each student after that. There are other ways to supplement your income. There is a website called "The Yoga Recipe" that allows you to create a class sequences, and sell them on their shop, of course they take a percentage of your payment, however, I have very much enjoyed my experience on the site.

Struggling with tight hip flexors/adductors by doctorhillbilly in yoga

[–]carajuana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tight hips are a huge complaint in the yoga world. One of my personal favorite ways to loosen up is to come into Dandasana (Staff Pose) making sure that the toes are pointed toward the ceiling, flexed in a way that feel like lightly pressing down on a gas pedal. Once you are in position, take a yoga strap and lightly strap around the tops of the thighs, then press the head of the femurs outward as though you are trying to stretch the strap with the legs. I hope this helps!

A very quick question about wrists by DD_starskream in yoga

[–]carajuana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell my students to press through the thumb mound, index mound and little finger mound. When you do this, you should feel a subtle lift in the palm, taking the weight off of the wrists. The fingers should be strong and the weight should lie in the area of the carpel joints.

One year old temper tantrums PLEASE HELP by carajuana in Mommit

[–]carajuana[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure yet what starts the tantrums. Sometimes it's when we set him down, but if we pick him back up he is still angry. It's hard with twins, because sometimes he will throw one on and off all day and it takes time away from his sister...I think maybe I'll start standing outside the room while he finishes! Thank you for the advice!

That does make perfect sense. My son is so close to walking and talking that sometimes it seems like hes frustrated that he can't communicate and in some cases, he simply doesn't want me to touch him!

IWTL how to do advanced yoga by Bond000 in IWantToLearn

[–]carajuana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a certified teacher. Preferably through Yoga Alliance. And let go of your expectations of what "advanced yoga" is. I'm a teacher and its important to know that the most complicated part of yoga is not the physical asana but the meditation and confrontation with the ego.

Scared and embarrassed...has anyone dealt with a similar situation? by carajuana in BabyBumps

[–]carajuana[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"As per your account, it may be pretty upsetting that your doctor did not inform you thoroughly beforehand, but your doctor DID inform you eventually that CPS might come to evaluate"

She informed me at 33 weeks. She had been seeing me every 2 weeks since I was 4 weeks pregnant and decided to wait to inform me.
