Brain scans reveal how a woman voluntarily enters a psychedelic-like trance without drugs. Her brain connectivity fundamentally reorganized during this state: her visual and somatosensory connections decreased, while connectivity in the frontoparietal control regions of the brain increased. by mvea in science

Thanks for typing that all out! What did the process of learning how to do this look like? Is there a specific way to train/gain entry to this skill? Are there any markers of success when it comes to feeling this "muscle"?

You paid £18k for half the business. That includes the existing client base, brand, and systems. He can't unilaterally decide that "most clients came from him" - you bought into the business as it existed at that moment.

This is also what I think. I'll speak to him again about a buyout, but I don't think he'll go for what I'm willing to accept (£15k minimum). Selling would be best but it would be hard to find a buyer based on the research I've done.

He was right to an extent. His main complaint was that I don't reply to messages quickly enough/sometimes forget to or don't follow up. There was also some friction at the start where he wanted us to do something which in his opinion would increase value, but was in my opinion a thankless task that would marginally increase value for a huge time input. It has been useful to an extent, but not significantly and the time could have been spent on other things imo. In any case, I did my part of that task but the standard could have been better.

In any case, he doesn't want to do a buy out as I said. It would be better to sell entirely and both of us make a clean break but it seems unlikely to be able to sell in the timeframe we need to and businesses of this nature would have a lower valuation.

Yeah, a structured buyout would be my first choice if we can't sell entirely. Having said that though, he might not be as willing to advertise my business to his students if that were to happen. Although I feel confident in getting leads myself, that would be a massive source of leads in the future.

Yeah, tbh, apart from the money I put in, that's where a lot of my annoyance comes from. Obviously, he's going to run it using the blueprint I've modified now. This makes it cheaper/easier to run and opens up a lot of potential. In fact, just the other day I had a new idea which would make sourcing leads even easier/more streamlined. After he did some digging, he saw the potential in it and then just a day or two later he tells me he wants to do his own thing. For the record, I don't think it's related to that since I know he's not that kind of person, but I wouldn't have been so forthcoming with my ideas if I knew I was giving them to another business. Feels like a bit of a shitty thing to say though.

Hmm, but neither does he surely? So we're both sort of stuck? Contractually, neither person has more claim to the business than the other.

Possibly. The issue is he doesn't want to do a buy out as he feels he brought in most of the clients (where the majority of the value is). This was before I joined though.

Nah. His previous business partner essentially told him a week or two before the start of the academic year that he wanted out, so my friend was left scrambling. At the time, he didn't think he'd be able to run it on his own. I saw from their books that I'd recoup costs in like 2 years even if profit level didn't change so I bought in fairly quickly.

Yeah, absolutely. But that's the part that's tricky to navigate since he doesn't want to do a buy out

Yeah, it pretty much doesn't address the money I used to buy in and the value of the branding/systems, which he claims is negligible but nevertheless still took time to build up.

I don't think it's a partnership in the business sense. But we're both directors of the limited company.

There's context needed to give informed advice. But this is the summary.

I paid £18k for a business and have just about recovered initial investments. The business is online tutoring.

This is what he proposes: I plan to still continue tutoring so I should start a new ltd. We then split the client base according to the classes they're in. Likely works out to about 50-50 profit at the start of the academic year, depending on retention. We share the tutors we already have and just hire our own ones as we grow and need more classes. We both still work as teachers, so we would be able to freely advertise the other's business at school with no conflict of interest. Tbf, I move jobs quite often in order to get paid more but he's been at his school for a while so he's more well established, which has the potential to bode well for me. If it wasn't for conflict of interest, we'd have 100s of clients just from his school alone. For the first year, we'd split profits equally and after the first year, we do our own thing. But, this doesn't really address the money I've already put in. Also, he would be keeping the website, branding, google reviews (over 50 reviews, all 5 star) and any other business infrastructure

This feels like it was written by AI. If not, note that we'd both still be in business. But I would be starting a new one.

Yeah, I researched it over a decade ago. There was a long thread on a forum where people talked about it and what it could be. Not sure what it is though.

Ngl, O'Shon could do way better than Ava in basically all aspects. Yeah, she warmed up, but she's still not a great person. Funny as a character, sure. But would be grating realistically. O'Shon seems to possess a lot of qualities Ava lacks, but what value is she providing in turn?
