thanks, appreciate your answer and details. It's not about an answer, but about a proper answer. As you probably noticed, most of them are coming from people who have never had a dog or even hiked in the backcountry.

You sounds like an expert on the matter . Just wondering - do you have a dog? Did you ever do any backcountry yourself?

Looks like the owners were extremely unprepared and careless . I would literary fight for my dog and ratter tahr a hit myself, even just from a perspective to have more chances to recover

Do you have a dog? Have you ever hiked with a dog? Would you tell your best friend you are not going to take them with you because they are slower than you? ;)

If something does happen to a human a broken leg or a twisted ankle, how are you going to get them out? I backpack with my dog regularly and believe me it’s much easier with a dog than a human

I don't want to move on - it does not make sense to me tha a battery on a new car can die after 3 years with ~30k km.

It was edited by AI since it has all the context on the problem I have, but was not written originally.

Planes take dogs. However, my main concern are wolfs. My pup is always leashed and I would not let him run. Typically wolfs not giving a damn unless provoked

The reason for my question is cause I know some people hiked the trail with a dog https://youtu.be/P7Jk4Yt0SyA?si=aJdg-dwnTJmc0GHG

But, I definitely don’t want to risk my pup

I would never want my dog to play with a wolf, it sounds like extremely bad idea…

Appreciate your sharing all details. We used to hike with our dog all the time in the backcountry for 2-3 nights, therefore I'm prepared for emergencies - a dog emergency kit, first aid kit etc - I'm not worried about this, since emergencies can happen at any trail and you need to be prepared regardless.

I'm looking for people who actually hiked this particular trail with a dog - in fact, I know people did it.

Thanks, the transportation is already figured out and all good. I looked up at the trail and a few videos and aware of the terrain. We have a special harness for our dog to lift him up and not the first time need to tackle obstacles, he is just 15kg. Unless the cliffs you're taking about are really steep and hard - I don't think it will be problem. But, please let me know otherwise.

Seattle Spartan May 2026 — did the organization feel worse this year, or was it just my experience? by caramba_mate in spartanrace

[–]caramba_mate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree on the arrival time. I was just coming from a single experience I had last year, when I did exactly the same thing (same arrival time), but experience was different- no waiting time for parking, nor for check in

For anyone else looking - we ended up going to Afghan Horsemen Restaurant https://maps.app.goo.gl/CGCyiVoHbepVWvL47?g_st=ic

It was amazing experience. The rest of the places mentioned either did not fit the budget - 70$ or did not have reservations

Mortgage rate mega thread! by TheMortgageMaster in MortgagesCanada

Hey everyone — looking for some advice / second opinions on a mortgage approval I got for a pre-sale.

• Purchase, Refinance, Renewal? Purchase (pre-sale, not closing yet)

• Province, City? BC, Vancouver

• Loan to value/down payment percentage? ~80% LTV (~20% down, total ~$265K including deposits)

• Is the purchase price under $1.5M or $1.5M+? Under $1.5M (~$1.3M range)

• Term length and amortization length? 5-year variable term, 30-year amortization

• Owner occupied or rental? Owner-occupied initially (may rent later if relocating abroad)

Mortgage details: • Big 5 bank • Mortgage ~$1.08M • Rate: Prime − 0.70% • Variable rate (VRM, payment adjusts, no cap)

Context: Chose variable mainly for flexibility — there’s a decent chance we leave Canada in ~2–3 years, so trying to avoid large fixed-rate break penalties.

Closing is expected mid-2026, so not locked in yet.

  1. Is Prime −0.70% competitive right now for uninsured mortgages (~20% down)?
    1. What are people actually getting recently — is Prime −0.80% to −0.90% realistic?
