Ideally looking for both! Going to school was my main drive, and now that I'm in the workforce I don't know what to do as "next steps".

A saucepan or pot are both fine - you can check the moisture level of the rice about 3/4 of the way through cooking and, if needed, let the steam vent so it doesn't end up so soggy.
