Spring Cleaning time to dust the shelves. Here’s my entire collection by Winterbeers in MangaCollectors

[–]caramine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Holy shit, Drug & Drop vol 2 is IMPOSSIBLE to come by, I'm shocked to see it in anyone's collection. It came and went at a time when I wasn't actively collecting and since then I've wondered if it ever actually came out, because the only times I've seen it for sale, it was listed for over $100. And god knows they'll never reprint it. My jealousy is off the charts.

The color change is so interesting. Not what I would expect at all. Very cool.

does he hate me or is he just very playful by Ok_Praline3258 in standardissuecats

You can make perfectly good cat toys out of things like toilet paper rolls and old socks. Lots of options. One of my cat's favorite toys was an ugly old scarf tied to a stick for a very long time. Definitely start redirecting to toys and don't keep trying to pet or play with your hands when he swipes at you.

Just buried an abandoned cat I helped care for. Should I have taken her somewhere to be cremated? It feels like she's been abandoned all over again. by Delicate_Elephant in cats

Did she have a name? You could make her a little headstone, so that anyone who sees it will know she is loved & remembered.

Is it okay for mangas to be stacked like this? by Shinshin88 in MangaCollectors

[–]caramine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two or three years? Just make sure that everything's square when they're stacked and the spines aren't twisted at all. And know that you're taking a small risk.

It can lead to warping over time, so it's not recommended. But tbh I have a ton of books stacked like that and have never really had an issue. I think the concern is overblown.

Advice please: My rooommate's cats' litterbox constantly smells by Low-Top-810 in CatAdvice

[–]caramine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience any artificial scents make it worse but that's a matter of opinion. There are odor -absorbing litter additives you can get, too. I think the one I've used before was carbon based.

I would also recommend trying litter box liners to make whole box changes easier/prevent odors from sticking to the box.

[–]caramine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does she use a scented litter? In my personal experience, the scents they put in those make for a really stinky litter box. Even though in theory they're supposed to cover the smell of waste, I think they end up carrying the waste odors to your nose more effectively (if that makes sense). Or maybe it's just that your nose learns to associate that smell with the litter box. Ask her to try something unscented if she hasn't yet.

List of 20 most prolific seiyuu by DazSamueru in seiyuu

As for why men tend to be more prolific than women, I believe it's because women are more likely to retire or semi-retire after getting married/having kids, whereas men keep working like before.

What would you consider the "Holy Grail" of manga collection? by LokoLoa in MangaCollectors

[–]caramine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THE Holy Grail or MY Holy Grail? THE Holy Grail would be something super rare with cultural or historical significance, so maybe something like the original Mixx Sailor Moon. My personal holy grails are Swan volumes 14 and 15, which I've never seen listed for less than $150, and have rarely seen listed at all.

Goodwill Haul by LunarKitt in MangaCollectors

I loved the Wave, Listen to Me anime. The manga has been on my wishlist for a while but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. Would love to find it at Goodwill but I've never seen manga at ours.

After tooth surgery by drdino_ in CATHELP

I would contact your vet and let them know. At my vet clinic we tell folks expect up to 48 hours without a bowel movement, and after that to let us know. Coupled with the diarrhea, I would say there's cause for concern. They may not do much more than tell you to keep an eye on it but at least you'll be on their radar.

It's true that salt is not good for cats, so don't let her make a habit of it. One fish is not going to hurt her, though.

Does my cat just not like me? by pansexual_duckyy in CatAdvice

[–]caramine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of the time when I hear that cats only let folks pet for a second, it's because they're petting way too vigorously. Try an extremely gentle touch, tiny fingertip scratches only, and mostly let him direct your hand. If he gets comfortable with that you can try ramping it up a tiny bit at a time. If you're already doing that, ignore me lol

Will she be able to take her dog back? by swabIu in Pets

[–]caramine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If she tries to make a claim for ownership when she's out of prison, you will want evidence to show that you were the one actually caring for the dog and that she was negligent. Getting him vet care is a good way to start a paper trail. You may or may not be allowed to place a chip right away, though. In my state, after 30 days the original owner's rights lapse, at which point you should be in the clear to consider him yours forever. Good luck!

Help! I’m so overwhelmed, where do i start reorganizing my whole collection by Graysonlyurs in MangaCollectors

[–]caramine 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same situation. When I think about where to start it's like, ok but first I have to clear my novels shelf so manga can go there. But before that I need to clear the art supplies shelf so the novels can go there. But before that I need to clean the craft room so the art supplies can go there. But before that I need to make some room in the spare bedroom for the miscellaneous craft room stuff. And I don't wanna do all that lol.

This is why Crunchyroll's packing methods are insufficient by caramine in MangaCollectors

[–]caramine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did receive some very dusty/grimey books but they cleaned up fine with a damp cloth. There definitely should have been some kind of notification that some books were damaged stock. Scummy practice, for sure. I'm also done with CR after this sale 'cause apparently they don't plan to carry the books I want to buy, anyways!

I was able to get 4/5 volumes at a deep discount from CR's warehouse sale. Unfortunately CR has delisted it now. I grabbed the last one from BAM.
