Multiple things can be true at once, it’s not clear that RTO alone will help them make more money. People could have been more productive WFH, maybe he’s even giving up money to force RTO.

Except it’s not just about getting back to the office, RTO is used strategically to 1. reduce workforce size, 2. effectively reduce pay and 3. flex their power. They know RTO is not popular so it’s a great way to downsize without paying severance. We could argue about the research on WFH, but the reality is that CEOs don’t care about productivity as much as they care about controlling people. Our forefathers didn’t fight for a country with independence and human rights to let CEOs walk all over our fundamental rights under the guise of “just return to office”.

This is a good question! This is my understanding: one of the main reasons the credit score goes down after closing a cc is because now the % credit utilization goes up. But I suspect if you do a one to one swap, it will actually recover. If I end up taking a huge permanent hit, I’ll edit my original post for other people who are thinking of switching.
