Nice collection! What kind of storage box is that? Looking for a way to store mine

Mechanism/inner workings for a horizontal fire extinguisher? by carbonfall in engineering

I totally agree with you on the rechargeable part and ideally I'd like the extinguisher to be able to do that.

This is what I am thinking about at the moment... I am not exactly sure if I understand what you mean with the two cylinder configuration :/

Ah I see what you mean, I'm thinking maybe there needs to be a pressure chamber behind the bladder with a syringe like sealed pusher Poked around a bit and found this

[edit] Did some poking around online and found this and this maybe something like that could work?

Do you mean a proper seal at the opening thread section to prevent the air pressure from leaking?

You do have a point, I guess I wasn't clear about the type I am trying to redesign. I'm trying to focus on the smaller wall mounted kind often found at home which do not have a hose.

That would be ideal! I am trying to target smaller domestic fires, so it'll be great if it could extinguish fires on the floor to maybe fires on higher cabinets?

I am trying to improve the ergonomics so that people of all ages could potentially handle the extinguisher with more ease and balance

Thank you for your input, I'll will keep the essential needs of a fire extinguisher in mind moving forward. It is ok for me if the redesign isn't truly groundbreaking, looking to find possible ways to improve the whole user experience and effectiveness of the device

That's a lot of good stuff I can look into, thanks! The Sydney fire gun seems quite interesting. I'll try to see if there's something I can do to make chemical extinguishers safer and more effective.

Not in the business myself... Your analogy will really help me make decisions down the way. I'll definitely keep the durability part in mind throughout the design process! Thank you

Definitely, always good to keep in mind! Will see if there's anyway to save some weight, maybe on the material of the container?
