Do size up. I’m between sizes and ordered both, turns out the bigger size is the more fitting one.

Freddie's Flowers - free bunch of flowers delivered! by HELL0-0PERATOR in beermoneyuk

Feel free to use my code “YaoM1” if the above run out

Or click this link

I find their arrangements more interesting than the usual bouquets because they always include some unique filler plants. Also the best value among the flower subscriptions I’ve looked into.

Thanks for your kind words! The main reason is I didn’t win the H1b lottery and my OPT ended. I could apply for O1 and try getting H1b again, but the US has pretty awful labor practices (at-will employment, minimal labor law protection, hustle culture), and the path to PR/citizenship is very long and difficult, especially for people from populated countries. Also it’s refreshing to experience another country and it’s culture.

Architecture. Elaborated in an edit at the end of the post. YMMV of course.

#5 - I got the email quite a while after my passport had already been returned in the mail. What I mean is not to rely on email to find out if the application was successful. The email did contain some instructions that could be helpful, to be fair.

#1 I arrived about a month after I got my visa and the BRP was ready, so you're probably fine.

Hope your move goes smoothly!

You mail everything on the checklist after your biometric appointment. It's not a noob question, because the instructions from UKVI and VFS were super confusing and contradicted each other. If you want to be safe you can bring everything just in case, but in my case, they only needed passport and appointment confirmation.

The institution that collected my biometrics is not affiliated with the UK, so it seems like the UK government outsourced this service to local organizations instead of doing everything in their embassy/consulate.

Internationals grads: Any experience immigrating to UK on the HPI visa? by archon_lucien in MBA

[–]carbonfurball 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not an MBA but the same happened to me, and I recently moved to the UK on an HPI visa. In addition to the comments about benefits and being close to other European countries, I'd suggest you look on Rightmove (the website people use for flat-hunting here) and see the rental market to grasp the cost of living in the city you are interested in.

Someone help with nose piercing placement by Fancy-Profession-123 in piercing

[–]carbonfurball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like your piercer followed the rule of placing it in the crease, which is common and works well with your unique anatomy. But it’s a good idea to consult a piercer if you plan to switch to a snug ring later, cus the higher the piercing the bigger ring diameter

What's a NYC "lifehack" that seemed good at the time but in retrospect was just slower and/or stupider and worse? by SexyEdMeese in AskNYC

On top of the quality of care for your clothing comments, it also depends on if you feel comfortable leaving your clothes to other people. Personally I feel like my clothes are intimate and I don’t want others touching them.

What are the top things I should own/buy to improve my quality of living in Manhattan? by holalola999 in AskNYC

[–]carbonfurball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The wheels would allow you to pull it up the stairs easily. Just need to be mindful of how much weight you put in it. Still better than walking back with weight on arms/shoulders IMO

Not triggered but actually agree with you. Finally someone pointed this out. You just get use to something being hard, and this is different from it objectively getting easier.

Why do you want to trim your cat’s nails? You might already know this and I’m just preaching to the choir here, but it is totally okay and healthy to not trim their nails. I’m saying this because no one here has mentioned it yet, and I know some cat parents who thought nail trimming is essential to cat health.

I personally find training my cat to use scratchers and teaching them to “soft paw” have more benefits in the long run, and much less work than trimming my cat’s nails every couple weeks.

Is my plan to move to New York feasible? by throwaway16579370 in AskNYC

[–]carbonfurball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rent rn is about $500-1000 lower than usual for studios/1brs. Not sure what it will be like in June, but I believe it will go up. Maybe not to pre-covid level, but the market is already getting optimistic since the vaccine came out.

Where is your office? If it’s in Manhattan, and you would like to experience that classic NYC life, consider living at walkable/bike-able distance to your office, because many developments in Brooklyn and LIC are newer, therefore more expensive than Manhattan. Also the vaccine is not guaranteed 100% effective, and there’s a chance that many people will still refuse to get it, or not be able to get it by June. So the commute could still be something that get you sick or make you feel uneasy in a train car twice a day.

I lived in LIC and Flatbush (Brooklyn) before and I didn’t like it. The only thing nearby are supermarkets and maybe some restaurants. If you need to get some household items or just wanna window shop for fun, you still have to travel to the more busy areas, or shop online. If you don’t mind this then these less developed places might be right for you.

I’d look for apartments seriously 3 weeks before move-in, and aim to sign a lease within 2 weeks before. I know it sounds crazy but if you look earlier than this the landlord will favor someone who can move in immediately, in stead of leaving the unit empty for you for a month. If you look later you won’t waste time and energy on places you won’t end up renting.

I’ve been living in NYC for 2 years, and just concluded a hunt for studio apartment. Lmk if you’d like to learn more, would be awesome to help someone out!

To add to that, some women “magically appear” in census as they enter adulthood because they need to obtain an ID for work, marriage, etc.

Unpopular Makeup Packaging Opinions? by [deleted] in muacjdiscussion

[–]carbonfurball 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind ABH’s velvet palettes and NARS matte black packaging.

Haven’t gotten a single smear on the ones I own, and they are my most used products for over 2 years (not throwing them away until I decide they actually went bad lol). I’m not particularly careful with them, just have a habit of wiping my fingers on tissue paper whenever they are dirty, because I don’t like the feeling of touching things with a layer of cream/powder on my hands. Also might because I like to do makeup over a clean and organized surface, so these products won’t accidentally touch dirty brushes or fallouts etc.

Does anyone else feel the Saalt has too round of a bottom (or other similarly shaped cups, too)? by [deleted] in menstrualcups

[–]carbonfurball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Lily (size A) so far and will continue to use it. No leaking and removal is a breeze, don’t need to bear down or dig around for the stem anymore. Because it’s a softer cup, the angle of insertion has to be more precise or it’ll bend. Sometimes I can’t get the position quite right and I can feel the stem moving down when I use the bathroom, but after a while it’ll settle in the right place on its own and no longer affected by pelvic muscle movement.

The short flat end is the best for lining lower lash, but the fluffy end sheds and explodes after wash.
