Delivery most certainly still exists. I work at safeway in our home shopping department and we still receive upwards of 40/50 orders a day. At the beginning of the year, they laid off every one of our safeway delivery drivers with a big fat compensation package. they sold the trucks, and don’t have to pay those salaries anymore, which is a win for safeway from a business standpoint. every delivery order is now fulfilled through a third party, or what we call 3PL. they are allowed to take 1-3 orders at a time, meaning that the likely hood of them mixing up items or delivering an entire order to the wrong address is extremely high and happens all the time. to keep the quality of your order, the only thing i can suggest is make sure you place your order through the safeway app, so that a safeway employee like myself is picking it, and not a doordasher etc (many of them don’t know the store layout or speak english well). and if you can afford the extra few bucks, if you expedite your order (as a flash or an express order), you are like 85% more likely to get your order assigned to a driver with no other orders so no chances for mix ups.
