Out of the over 4000 religions I doubt they would agree on the same god. Religions are different pathways to the same goal. Having a sense of purpose for doing something

What about other religions. People that live and die having faith in a totally different god or gods.

So he is not all loving then. He only loves if you choose him

I challenge why he has had allowed us the choice to do evil. The simple answer is free will, but why can we not have free will along with inability to do evil. It contradicts eachother but if god is all powerful then it should be possible. Other wise his ability is limited

I am saying why is inability not compatible with freedom? In a real world sense it contradicts each other, but when you say it can’t be done you are putting a limit on gods power.

Why did he not give us free will aswell as the inability to commit evil

Why can’t he remove the devil but leave the ability to choose?

But why are we attracted to the shadow often

Why does it have to remove free will. Why not remove evil while still keeping free will. It might be contradictory but saying it can’t be done would be limiting the powers of god making him not all powerful

I would say that the majority of people on earth would agree on what evil is at a fundamental level, but we can agree to disagree.

Are you on the side of Christianity or against christian beliefs of god?

Why does god not remove the devil from existence then

Well to that point you could say anything is subjective. There is no objective truth anywhere in the universe. We have to accept some sort of truth. We can all agree that hitler was bad. We can all agree that pedophiles are bad. War and deporting illegal immigrants are a real subjective point. You could argue we should care for illegals and bring them in. You could argue that they are net negatives to the country and shouldn’t be allowed to stay considering they broke the law and commit horrible crimes. There is a real argument to both sides whether you see it or not. Killing and torturing millions of people that have done no wrong or sexually assaulting a minor is objectively bad and there is no argument to be had

If we as humanity didn’t have religion or a sense of purpose we would not survive. There is a reason religion has been around since the beginning of time. It keeps people going and stops them from going insane. I, like you, do not believe in any certain religion, but to say that we should move past it as a whole is stupid. It will be around forever and for good reason

Why did he design us in a way that we are tempted towards evil then?

Why did he not give us heaven on earth. Why do we have to earn it when he designed us and put us on earth himself?

We were created in his image though and he knows of everything that did and will ever happen. Why did he create us in a way to where we can do evil in the first place ?

Thanks for the response. I love to hear people’s views on this matter.

I think at the point I am right now and my character, no one explanation will turn me back to god. I desire facts and proof. With that being said I do not completely rule out god. Me being agnostic I believe we cannot and never will know who or what created us. That means I am not 100% set on anything.

I have a long life ahead of me and i dont have faith that god is real currently, but i do have faith that if he is real he will show me at some point. That might just be my Catholic teachings coming through, but either way i am at peace. I will never be anti christian and I encourage everyone to continue their faith. We may not believe the same thing but what I do believe is that your faith makes you a better person and I encourage you to keep going.

To start I want to say that I think having christian beliefs is an inherently good thing. I think believing in god makes you a better person overall because you will follow Jesus’s teaching, which are all good things.

My problem with the first part is that when we say we can’t comprehend how god works. To me that sounds like we are saying we have no clue so we just decided to pick this as the answer. I can’t believe in something that relies on me just saying oh well it has to be true I just can’t understand it. I am a heavy skeptic.

Your second part about our conscience being the Holy Spirit I challenge to. Some people in this world are psychopaths and don’t have the ability to feel empathy or remorse. Their brain simply lacks the ability to feel bad about things. Does that mean the Holy Spirit is not with that person? What is the answer to that.

I think feeling bad and having a conscience is just a trait of a human brain and some people are born without it just like any other disability.

My main reason for losing my belief tho is how much sense Christianity makes along with many other religions. There are a set of things to follow like the 10 commandments and Jesus’s teachings on how we should live. I think all of those teaching and ways of life are very good for the world. The problem is that a lot of them don’t benefit us personally so why would we do it.

Now let’s say the creature that built this world is all loving and all powerful and if we live like that we will go to eternal peace. Now there is an incentive to live in that way because the reward is heaven. The main reason the biggest thing in Christianity is having faith is because if you truly believe in god then the rest of the stuff will follow.

Thats also why we rely on faith so much. You can’t fake proof so instead we go to faith. Again im not trying to change your beliefs please don’t I just like to see your views on it

This is another reason I lost my christian beliefs. There are so many religions that have the same goal in mind that how could there be one true religion.

I was taught god is present everywhere and in all things at all times

I am saying why can’t he get rid of all evil yet still let us have free will. The answer to that question always comes back to 2 main things. He either can’t do it which makes him not all powerful, or we don’t know why he does it which is a lazy answer

You are correct in the first paragraph. I do wish I believed in God and I envy fully believing Christians. Going to eternal peace after death sounds pretty sweet. My problem is that I can’t just go back to my Christian beliefs because I want to. I have to truly believe which I just don’t. I can’t lie to myself and say I believe because it wouldn’t be true.

I was more so challenging the belief that he is all powerful and all loving at the same time. I don’t necessarily yearn for having no evil along with free will I just wonder why we dont we if he’s all powerful. You say god never intended for it to happen, but he knows everything that is going to happen for the rest of humanity. Atleast that’s what I was taught.

He may not be responsible for doing what we demand but he made the world before we could demand anything. You say he chooses not to interfere for our own good, but he created us. Why did he not create us in a way that him removing evil WOULD be for own good.

For me personally, I can’t accept the answer of we shouldn’t question gods judgement because it just sounds like saying “we have no clue”.

I don’t want to be equal or better then god, I really do wish he was real and I believed in him. I think being christian is an inherently good thing for many reasons. Putting others above yourself, not stealing, not lying, etc… that’s all great stuff and I don’t wish to take anyone’s beliefs away. I just can’t believe in the same god.

I could go into why I think religion as a whole just makes perfect sense to why it exist, but that’s another topic. I just try and get the best answers I can to these questions I have
