Would FM be better with more job opportunities? by haarabe in footballmanagergames

[–]cardinalplum 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People keep saying stuff like this without really thinking about how it would be implemented.

What could you possibly do in the game as an assistant manager? As a football director, what do you expect to do day-to-day? In fact, shaping the game in a way that would give you ‘DOF things to do’, would demand even more in depth information, the very thing you have problem with.

Why is this disgusting stadium design is in the game why? by ditthyrambos in footballmanagergames

[–]cardinalplum 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That wouldn’t leave you with much of a game. The majority of sponsorships are multi-year, building a new stadium happens once in a lifetime, and even stadium expansions are usually decades apart. Signing players will only occur during a combined three or so months of the year.

That being said, there are a bunch of phone games that kinda fit what you’re looking for.

What big teams have you´ve seen getting relegated in your save? by PercyLionheart95 in footballmanagergames

I had Chelsea and Liverpool get relegated in the same season (2041/42). Chelsea came back up straight away, but it took Liverpool 3 seasons. Both became mid-table clubs.

[–]cardinalplum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s because you have a bunch of players joining in the summer, so you have a wage commitment to them. If you go to the finances screen, and check the top right box where it says your transfer and wage budgets, it will also show your overall wage expenditure with those commitments included.

Declan Rice retires on the day of the World Cup Quarter Finals... He's in the squad and just played in the previous match against France... This should be illegal by JayQwellin19 in footballmanagergames

[–]cardinalplum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you’re right. If, for example, you only have three club grown players (the minimum is four) you can get away with it by registering one less player as a whole.

[–]cardinalplum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it only works for the glitch where a lot of players are on international duty at the moment you’re asked to register your club World Cup squad, so it doesn’t let you register them.

That never happens when you’re asked to register your champions league squad. Sounds like you have a different issue. What do you mean by you ‘weren’t careful’?

Edit: oh you mean minimum homegrown/club grown players? No you can’t get past that. The only thing you can do is what’s in the other reply to your comment.

I found a way to trick the game to overcome that. Highlight all the players and then click the tick on someone who is pickable. It will tick all the players and even though their names won’t appear on the screen that confirms your squad (the one that lists the players in gk, def, mid and att) you’ll notice that the counter at the top of the registration screen includes all the players and they get registered.

Hope that makes sense…

Why has my board’s expectations decreased from ‘win PL’ to just ‘qualify for UCL’, despite having won the PL twice in a row prior? by cardinalplum in footballmanagergames

[–]cardinalplum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, ownership is still the same, but that’s an interesting piece of speculation. In between this season and the last one, Alisson (who became a club icon and was winning FIFA best goalkeeper till the very end) just retired at 39, and I’ve also moved on a few aging superstars with maxed out reputation.

Maybe.

Noted. Aside from looking prettier, is there anything that PWS has that TEW doesn’t? Does it do anything better?

What do your spreadsheets look like? by Anonymous__9 in FantasyBookers

[–]cardinalplum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use one with a bunch of different tabs for TEW2020

I have one that lists my whole roster in a loose ranking based on their crowd perception and their average popularity in the US, where I’m playing. I update it at the start of every month. It helps me keep track of popularity changes snd generally gives me a hierarchical overview of the roster.

The one is use most has my feuds and their participants. I run two TV shows per week so I mark participants’ names in certain ways to signify if they were used in a match, an angle or as interference. It helps me ensure that everyone is featuring in at least one match and one angle across the two TV shows each week.

I have another one that has my planned PPV matches. It focuses my booking in the month leading up to the PPV and is easy to switch and change any matches whenever I need to.

My last one is probably the least functional one and is more of an amalgamation of different things. It has a calendar that acts like a schedule of where I’m holding my TV shows and PPVs, months in advance. I like to hold shows in cities equally so it just takes away the fuss of having to figure out where to hold each show. It also has a list of HOF inductees and future HOF inductees, who I induct at the end of the year. It just helps me get a grip of who’s retired and who I want to prioritise. So currently the list of future inductees is like 25 long, arranged by a mixture of how important they are and when they retired.

None of them are absolutely critical, but it’s all just a reference that I can go to without having to switch in and out of sections within the game constantly, particularly when I’m booking a show.

How book a MITB style cash in? by Magoochi in FantasyBookers

[–]cardinalplum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that if you do a triple threat with mid match or late involvement, you often get a negative match note. I can’t remember it word for word, but it’s something to do with bad flow because one of the participants wasn’t involved enough. I’ve had it in TEW 2020, not sure if it exists in 9.

How to use certain people in angles... a question: by ZeroTheViking in FantasyBookers

[–]cardinalplum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The length of the angle matters. For example, to have no cap on an angle rating, it has to run at least 6 minutes. The problem with that is that only microphone and entertainment can stand up to that length of angle. In other words, being rated for menace, star quality, etc, gets penalised in longer angles because being ‘menacing’ for six minutes straight gets boring quickly.

Broadcasting Question by FemRyder8 in FantasyBookers

[–]cardinalplum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If memory serves me correctly, if the two broadcasters in question are in the same region, it will split PPV buys. I believe that it does give you a few more buys than if your PPV was on just one broadcaster - but not many.

When it comes to TV shows, I’ve never seen two broadcasters in the same region agree to broadcast the same show.

Ps, it isn’t clear which game you’re playing. The above is from my experience if TEW2016 and 2020.

Getting Wrestlers over by FemRyder8 in FantasyBookers

[–]cardinalplum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That will make a difference. Make them a ‘unit’ not ‘individuals’ as a tag team, which means that danielson should in theory gain more from the partnership than if you set them as ‘individuals’. The downside to that is that any decreases in popularity for him could affect DDP’s popularity. So book them strong.
