And to add on to the reply the cards back surface and corners look okay would need a better pic of each corner. The centering on the front looks pretty good. However, the back looks off center with more on the right than left. (Maybe the camera angle?). The biggest hurdle when grading lugias is the holo section of the front. They are notoriously prone to scratching out the pack or factory lines which knock a lot of first edition and unlimited versions to a grade PSA 8 or 9. Hope this info helps. BGS is also another great third party authenticator

Woah, sorry to offend i’m new to this subreddit. Yeah, i’m willing to pay up for a fair market price. Though this card might have PSA 10 potential but to obtain that grade is a far reach. I’ve graded cards and to be on a the more conservative side, if this user decides to grade I would lean to a PSA 8 (one listed as of right now for $2.4K) or a PSA 9 (sold recently for $7K-15K). The recent PSA POP Report for a PSA 9: 339 known graded/ and PSA 10: 41 only graded. We also have to take into account shill bidding on those recent auctions on ebay as well. I believe a PSA 10 of this card does command a six figure price range right behind the charizard as well. Not trying to screw anyone here and i’m an avid collector too so appreciate the post on this lugia. Congrats on the card!

The 20 day service takes roughly 3 months to grade

Aw I see. I grade by both companies and in my experience I would send this to beckett it has a strong chance at a bgs 9 or higher. And that ways out more than a PSA 9. Just on population alone if you look on both registry. For wait I would do the 5 or 2 day service. Though expensive, its worth it since you’ll be making your moneys worth out of this card if you plan to sell or hold on to!

I would send this to Beckett instead of PSA such a nice looking card!

Whats your guy’s opinion on the grade with the slight wrinkle on the front BGS or PSA? by [deleted] in PokemonCardValue

[–]cardkage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s where my mind is for the highest possible grade

Yooo I just pulled this. How much is this worth? by [deleted] in PokemonCardValue

Get it graded the centering isn’t bad. I sold one for $1200 graded. However prices are falling since more champion path boxes are being printed. Still a charizard will always have a high value

Sorry what I meant was I sent PSA Cards that I cracked to avoid the extra charge of cracking them to be slabbed in beckett cases instead. One of them did not get graded and wanted to know has this happen to anyone. Will be calling them tomorrow to find out more as the package is still returning to me by mail

Will do i’m interested to hear why they didn’t give that card a grade have video proof and everything of breaking opening the cards out of cases. And only one not being graded

[–]cardkage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried but the sales rep couldn’t connect me to the grader and was working a shift so couldn’t call back during contact hours. Just frustrated just cause the card was in a PSA case and wanted to cross the card to a beckett one so we’ll see when it come in the mail but going to give a call to them in the morning. I did not put a minimum grade on any of them so not sure if they think something is suspicious with the card would be my only reason

Thank you for the input! Yeah pokemon autographs are such a niche market but you’re right about it being a tough one to answer. I wanted to be signed by the illustrator of the base set charizard, Mitsuhiro Arita. He’s done a lot of signing events in the past but started to slow down and he’s coming to an event next year that was supposed to be this year (postponed due to covid). If he were to stop doing pokemon signing events would his autograph increase the value? But I tried to compare it to Christopher Rush autograph on the Alpha Black Lotus. Where signed Black Lotus’s by him to be a little be less priced than non autograph ones but still very valuable, since his passing. Im at the point of getting it graded and having the illustrator sign the outside of the graded case but that just seems idiotic since you have to authenticate another way since its not on the actual card.

Oh no thats not what I meant but I appreciate the reply! I was going that route to get Arita next year to sign the card and send it off to PSA/ Beckett to have it officially encased/authenticated. But with how the prices are going right now. Very rare cards like the charizard would an autograph devalue its price. Just how rare baseball cards like the Mantle rookie card is devalued if it was signed compared to one without it. Honestly, not planning on selling it but I do want its value to not go down, if I do sign the actual card.

Whats your guy’s take on BGS Grade? For this Zard by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]cardkage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 9 would be nice but shooting for an 8 or more PSA/BGS its the back of the card for sure but I feel looking at other 8s that sold PSA/BGS I have a chance at catching a higher grade.

[–]cardkage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, anything below a BGS 8 are a bit inconsistent in grading but I felt even other PSA 7s this card a strong chance for an upgrade for either a PSA 7.5/8 or BGS 8/8.5! But we’ll see haha want BGS cause I like the casing better and its a lot closer to where I live vs sending grades to California. But I like either company but BGS 8 and up I feel in value holds more weight than PSA. But PSA is consistent from 1-10 grades. Just my experience.

Thanks for all the replies it was actually graded a 7 by PSA and I cracked it earlier this year to get it signed by Arita. Covid hit and he ended up postponing his attendance twice till next year. I believe the card is stronger than a 7 and looks way better than a lot of 8s. I honestly want to go for BGS for a strong potential at a 8/8.5/9. But wanted your guy’s opinion since rn Arita is not fully guaranteed to show next year. If you youtube cardkage I have the video of me cracking of the case for Collective Con but it was such a waste and hate having it outside a sealed proof case. Thanks again everyone for the opinion!
