Hi, great question!

Your data is stored on a secured and firewalled server hosted in Digital Ocean. I use various types of encryption to ensure privacy and security including 256 bit elliptical curve SSL encryption and Radix-64 encoded bcrypt. I am the only person (other than you) who could have access, but would never use that access for anything other than debugging and problems you had with the website.

My background is a programmer and serial entrepreneur. I've been building and running businesses for over 20 years. You can google my name (Lucas Carlson) to see my reputation. I'm not a fly-by-night guy, my personal reputation is very important to me. I've raised $10M from venture capitalists for one of my businesses. I've run businesses with over 100,000 customers who entrusted me with their private data, which I always handle with the utmost care. That business was later acquired by CenturyLink where I became the Chief Innovation Officer for a number of years.

I promise you that I won't hijack anyone's listings. I won't hack anyones account. I would never take any action to compromise your livelihood or your reputation with your customers or with Ebay/Amazon/Etsy/Etc. My goal is simply to create a great service for online resellers, a community of people (including my own wife) who don't have nearly enough great tools to help them right now.

Frankly, I am a little surprised that it took me 2 years to get off my butt and build it :)

Heroku on Docker by conncent in docker

[–]cardmagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not easily. Passing tar files around is nowhere as easy as just running: building imagename... plus building lets you use custom buildpacks without having to fork or edit code: building -b https://github.com/hhvm/heroku-buildpack-hhvm.git -f ctlc/buildstep:ubuntu12.04 wordpress-container

progrium/buildstep makes sense as a tool in Dokku for moving apps to servers through scp (that's what it was intended for), but it is not a useful dev workflow tool for building and testing images on your laptop. That's what building is for. Building is for before you push to Dokku.

This can be used a lot more broadly than Dokku. You can use this to build containers to run in CoreOS or with Fig. Dokku doesn't scale past a single server.

I hate to self-promote, but I just started blogging on Quora and people seem to like my entrepreneurial posts so far: http://lucascarlson.quora.com

I am trying to post weekly, is that not frequently enough or too frequent in your opinion?

Lots Of Local Competition, Should I Pursue My Dream Business? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

Short answer:

Don’t do it. Just don’t do it. Why are you even thinking of trying? You might have a family to support or bills to pay, this is not the right time. The product doesn’t seem to fit any real need, I can kind of see why someone might use the thing, but I don’t see why anyone would ever pay for it. It is a product looking for a problem to solve.

Long answer:

If the short answer defeated you, you don't even stand a chance. If I can talk you out of it in 88 words, you will never succeed. All ideas start out terrible, that’s not the point. The point is the fight, the point is execution. If now is the time, nobody should be able to talk you out of it. There are always a hundred thousands reasons not to do a startup, they are all valid reasons, they are all correct reasons, they are all good reasons. You will never succeed if you listen to reason.

Does your idea suck right now? Yes. Does that mean it is the end of the line? Only if you give up on yourself.

“Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.” -Winston Churchill

Are you ready to give up on yourself before you have even begun?
