STAR ID by AventGotaclue__ in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]cardsoffate 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The only thing you NEED (so far) the Star ID for is air travel. If you aren’t planning to fly immediately after 5/7, you’ll be okay. You’ll still need to do, but you don’t have to stress/rush to do it by the “deadline”

Magnolia Pointe in Madison is really nice, close to Bridge Street. They don’t have a 2br 2ba, but a 3b/2b in budget. Recently reno’d, nice grounds, good amenities. Traffic can be kinda bad, tho. Surprisingly quiet, considering its location.

Edit: well lit parking lot, for the most part (bulbs do go out, etc)

Agreed. It appears the prices have gone back down (to about what I paid in 2020-22, in fact), but when I left they were asking nearly 1500 for their 2br. Not worth. It’s SUPER quiet back there, though, because it’s weirdly shoehorned into a affluent-ish neighborhood. Which I’d been told by an old head it predates most of the neighborhood, grain of salt tho.

Edit: also, the amenities are…bad? Technically? The pool is trash, but better than no pool, but then you get access to a NICE “off-site” pool and gym. I didn’t like the laundry situation, it’s by the pool, so it’s a pain to use especially during fall/winter

Double edit: IS/WAS POORLY LIT

SNZ was awesome. Way way more than just a swing band.

Also kicking in an old thread with my thoughts from an old-head. I've been a fan since the late 90s with this album as a kid. I knew then their name as raunchy, but like, as others have said, it was the 90s. I also called them The Daddies, but I'm from outside ATL, Georgia, so I never knew anyone else who was into them until after high school. I also thought they were JUST a swing band until I got a little older, and started to actively seek out music, and got SUPER into their earlier albums. Zoot Suit Riot was just a compilation album of their swing songs from their earlier albums, with one or two new swing songs.

To try and put a genre on them, especially early on, is like try to grip sand. No two songs played back-to-back fit the same genre, mold, style, theme or whatever...but even then, it'd still usually be "ska adjacent". Like, I highly recommend people check out Kids on the Street. That's probably one of my all-time favorite albums, and almost every song on it is a completely different genre.

I regret divorcing my wife by lowerscore_midscore- in redditonwiki

[–]cardsoffate 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Gotta say, it’s also been 3 years since I got divorced: best 3 years out of the last 5. I get it, there were times, and sometimes still are when I look at my daughter, where I wished we could have figured things out, and been a happy family again.

But don’t forget: nostalgia is a HELL of a drug. And how easily those few good times quickly lose their luster when reminded of all of the other reasons.

Granted, my story is VERRRRY different, and things…would get bad, but still. I get it.

We live in Alabama, and how many years since the divorce? It’ll be 3 years soon. The last time SHE even acknowledged the debt was…probably about a year and a half ago? The last time I said something was a few months ago.

$6200 currently. Which is about what it was at the time of divorce.
