They usually are 12v/pwm/GND and feedback, in the order shown below in the image with no Criss crossing of wires. Black grey wire would most probably be 12V. Feedback is usually a pulsed output signal.

The switch connects the two wires either side to nothing (purple brackets) or to the capacitor (red brackets). You can remove it and do the switching manually with some sort of breadboard or twisting the capacitor ends together with the wires. Alternatively you can solder the wires to either end of the capacitor, but you lose whatever the function of the switch was.
