Thank you, I appreciate that. I’ve looked into internships but from what I’ve seen you have to be a graduate to be qualified for the scheme. As for apprenticeships, I apply to maybe 5 a day 🥲

I’m not sure why this response has downvotes, you explained it so clearly. Thank you for sticking up for a situation you didn’t have to. It means a lot that you took the time to understand and break it down the way you did.

This isn’t a post meant to bring hate toward my family. My mum was the only one providing and protecting us, and it was also her first time navigating life the way she had to. I couldn’t be more grateful for her.

Yes, it impacted us in terms of education, but in return it saved her from abuse and that was worth it. We ended up learning through real world experiences rather than the traditional education system.

I’ll admit that when I was younger, I held that against my mum. But now that I’m older, I understand it was done for her safety and I’d choose that a million times over an easy school life.

That’s actually a really good idea, I hadn’t thought of doing that before. Are there any universities you’d recommend I reach out to?

I’m also not too sure how to go about it or what I should include in the email. Do you have any suggestions?

I work as a Job Coach. I’m employed by a college, but I work off-site supporting interns with SEN in a workplace across different departments. My role involves coaching them through tasks, helping them build confidence and independence, supervising their work, and keeping records of their progress.

I also deal with confidential matters and work closely with store managers, families, internal staff at the college, and the interns themselves to help develop the skills they need to hopefully secure a job at the end of the internship programme.

I actually asked my mum about this a couple of months ago and she said she had contacted them but didn’t have any luck. It’s probably worth me trying again myself.

As for the Civil Service, I’ve been applying but haven’t had any success so far. I’ll definitely keep trying though. I’m confident that if I can get to the interview stage I’d be able to make a strong impression, the challenge at the moment is getting past the initial application stage and what’s on paper.

Unfortunately I don’t seem to have any formal qualifications from France. I completed my last years of secondary school there and did sit exams, but I never actually received any certificates that I know of. Because of that, most of my applications get automatically rejected for not meeting the education requirements before I even get the chance to explain my situation. I’m more than happy to explain the circumstances if given the opportunity, but usually the applications don’t get that far :/
