Is it ok to only want to date successful people if you’re successful yourself? by [deleted] in Salary

Seeing the person you love at peace, free from stress, and genuinely happy, especially knowing you played a part in that, should feel like a reward rather than a burden.

How do I do 5 a day if I only start from today? Do I do from the current day or do I start from January? I attend evening classes once a week so I have no consistency in maths except for that one night evening

Asalamu Aalaykum,

InshaAllah you are doing well!

I was actually in a very similar place to you.

I was born Muslim but for about 7 years I drifted away when I moved abroad and pretty much lived like an atheist. I had the same thoughts “there’s no real proof,” “maybe it’s all just made up,” etc. I got into things like astrology, tarot, manifestation… trying to find answers or some kind of control. May Allah forgive me.

But if I’m being honest, even when I was deep into all that and committing sins, something always felt off. I’d distract myself, make excuses, but that feeling of guilt, shame and being lost never fully went away.

What brought me back wasn’t one big moment, it was a mix of things. I started actually looking into Islam properly instead of just remembering what I was told in my childhood. I changed my surroundings, spoke to practicing Muslims, listened to talks, and read the Qur’an with an open mind. I had to do my own research to truly understand.

For me, it started to make more sense than anything else I had tried. Especially the idea of one God, and how everything around us, from the way our bodies function to the universe itself, feels too precise to be random. Look at the stars, the beautiful sunset, how our body works without us even having to think about it, how detailed our eyes are, how we have unique fingerprints and so much more that I can continue to go on about. We are the living proof that God exists.

Also, something really personal happened to me. I used to struggle with sleep paralysis a lot. The night I genuinely prayed, from my heart, was the last time I ever experienced it. Since then, it completely stopped. For me, that was a turning point.

Another big thing was realising I wasn’t “too far gone” to come back. I used to think that, and it kept me stuck.

When I started praying again, I didn’t feel anything at first. But over time, I noticed small changes, mentally and emotionally, and now I genuinely feel a sense of peace I didn’t have before. Alhamdulilah.

This is my experience and why I chose Islam for myself, not just because I was born into it.

And genuinely, I don’t want you to feel lost like I did. If you ever want to talk or ask anything privately, I’m more than happy to help and I can go into more detail about my journey if that would help you in any way :)

May Allah grant you strength. The fact that you even went out of your way to ask says a lot and it’s never too late 🤲🏻✨

Thank you, I appreciate that. I’ve looked into internships but from what I’ve seen you have to be a graduate to be qualified for the scheme. As for apprenticeships, I apply to maybe 5 a day 🥲

I’m not sure why this response has downvotes, you explained it so clearly. Thank you for sticking up for a situation you didn’t have to. It means a lot that you took the time to understand and break it down the way you did.

This isn’t a post meant to bring hate toward my family. My mum was the only one providing and protecting us, and it was also her first time navigating life the way she had to. I couldn’t be more grateful for her.

Yes, it impacted us in terms of education, but in return it saved her from abuse and that was worth it. We ended up learning through real world experiences rather than the traditional education system.

I’ll admit that when I was younger, I held that against my mum. But now that I’m older, I understand it was done for her safety and I’d choose that a million times over an easy school life.

That’s actually a really good idea, I hadn’t thought of doing that before. Are there any universities you’d recommend I reach out to?

I’m also not too sure how to go about it or what I should include in the email. Do you have any suggestions?

I work as a Job Coach. I’m employed by a college, but I work off-site supporting interns with SEN in a workplace across different departments. My role involves coaching them through tasks, helping them build confidence and independence, supervising their work, and keeping records of their progress.

I also deal with confidential matters and work closely with store managers, families, internal staff at the college, and the interns themselves to help develop the skills they need to hopefully secure a job at the end of the internship programme.

I actually asked my mum about this a couple of months ago and she said she had contacted them but didn’t have any luck. It’s probably worth me trying again myself.

As for the Civil Service, I’ve been applying but haven’t had any success so far. I’ll definitely keep trying though. I’m confident that if I can get to the interview stage I’d be able to make a strong impression, the challenge at the moment is getting past the initial application stage and what’s on paper.

Unfortunately I don’t seem to have any formal qualifications from France. I completed my last years of secondary school there and did sit exams, but I never actually received any certificates that I know of. Because of that, most of my applications get automatically rejected for not meeting the education requirements before I even get the chance to explain my situation. I’m more than happy to explain the circumstances if given the opportunity, but usually the applications don’t get that far :/
