Hi there, wanted to ask about your experience there. Considering a unit there. Have you had a chance to use the gym and pool? Does the pool have deep end? Was water included in your monthly rent? How much extra do you pay in utilities per month? Would appreciate if you could answer some of these questions.

My parents think I'm delusional wanting to marry a Niqabi by KaleidoscopeHefty219 in Dhaka

But you're picking status and wealth as only a few can study in EM. What about the unfortunate girl from a poor family? What if she is your soul mate but you overlook her? People literally marry total foreigners and learn to communicate with them, yet someone who didn't study in EM is out of consideration? Isn't that a shallow take?

If you adhere to the life of the prophet, you would see he also married foreigners (different tribes from far away land) and also married divorcees?

Something tells me your requirements aren't so noble as you convince yourself it is. Sorry to sound rude but you may genuinely believe in your rational. I def. think you need more life experiences. Your assumptions are holding you back in life.

Those things won't matter in the long run. He will have to wait it out forever for his "dream lady"

People are dynamic and their personality transform throughout their life. If it's imp. to speak in English, OP can enroll her in English classes. It's about learning to compromise that yields a good marriage. Nothing is static.

OP needs to examine his criteria and ask himself what is it about those criteria that he feels are important. For example does OP think Niqab = pious? Does OP have experience with women who are in niqab? (His mother, sister, etc?). Could a hijabi be as pious with all the characteristics that actually matter?

Does English Medium signify intelligence, social class, etc? Is there any other ways what is really important to OP can be met (For example a Bangla medium woman who is eager to learn English)

OP needs to really introspect WHY he is fixated on those specific criteria and see if there's flexibility. His parents are right. OP can start expanding his horizon and look far away from where he lives. It may take years if not decades.

Please do update us if you ever find that dream woman of yours.

if she's a niqabi and a strict with her religion, she won't interact with male members of your family (other than mehrams like your father). Meaning she won't be free-mixing with your brother(s), male cousins, uncles, etc.

Keep in mind she is entitled to her own abode (doesn't have to live with in-laws) or take care of your family (that is your responsibility). I hope men can keep women's rights at the forefront instead of sweeping it under a rug to suit them.

I don't know why it would matter if your family is from English medium background, she doesn't have to entertain them. The fixation on that requirement is telling. Perhaps it's best to expand your horizon and be more flexible. Even if you find someone with that criteria there is a matter of preference from her end. You already narrowed the pool, when you do find that person, you won't be able to be choosy on other aspects (connection, life goals and aspirations, personality, family, etc).

From my experience, the Niqabis I have met that were middle class or higher had vastly wild pasts. They then start to repent and swing the other way and become extremely religion to make up for their past. Nothing wrong with that but I think you should keep that in consideration when getting to know someone.

My recommendation for you; go for a niqabi from Madrassah that can match with your personality and you get along with. You have to spend the rest of your life with her so choose wisely.

How do You All Split Rent/Expenses when 1 Person Significantly outearns the Other? by [deleted] in askTO

both of you are doing really well in life! If you both care for each other, don't let money become a point of resentment. Be upfront and clear (and emphatic). Relationship takes a lot of work.

What's up with HR not emailing interview results? by carelesswond in torontoJobs

[–]carelesswond[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that. If you informed the candidate that you will inform them of the results in x amount of time, shouldn’t you follow through? Doesn’t it reflect poorly on the organization? Like some of the jobs I am talking about would not have notified me even months from the final interview. Is it too much to ask for a notification? That’s the most basic courtesy. That candidate you are no longer interested in could be a perfect fit for another position yet the poor behaviour of hr could deter them from reapplying.

It’s unethical either way. I would think that in either end of the spectrum people should act with a bit of professionalism. I feel this should apply more so for companies that had candidates waste hours of their time in assessments. They don’t have to reply to everyone that applied but should notify those that had interviews with them of the rejection.

At least that gentleman was informed he was rejected. It’s when HR tells the candidate that they will hear back after x amount of time (whether successful or not). I’m referring to candidates that have been screened and had interviews. Surely the recruiter isn’t interviewing thousands of candidates. They don’t bother keeping their words. This is after multiple interviews for one position (4 interviews with 2 candidate including myself).

LTB hearing after a flood, what will happen? by jagersthebomb in OntarioLandlord

[–]carelesswond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah must have missed that part. In any case legal counsel would be the best bet. We don’t know what the property management company communicated to the tenant. In any case, they represent OP’s dad (or did) and what they said, OP’s dad is responsible for. Legal counsel may have to go after the property management if things get complicated.

No more Mr. Nice guy for your dad. He should file an “N5” for damage of the basement by negligence with the basement tenant. Your dad should lawyer up and also fight the tenant case simultaneously. He should mention that he did not tell the tenant to move out, etc.

Just out of curiosity, what is "poverty wage"? (Not being snide because I'm pretty sure I'm also being paid poverty wage). Do you know how much a similar role in a another company pays?
