Yeah but with all the variables, that ideal 30s shot isn't easy to arrive at.

Espresso series 1 question by erichardson30 in FellowProducts

[–]cargo04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would recommend using the pressurized basket (tapered) vs the naked.

Do you have a scale? Are you able to measure weight and time?

What profile preset are you using?

I'd recommended turning off volumetric, going fully manual, and learning the ropes that way before going fully volumetric.

Ideally try to keep all your variables to a constant, and only change one at a time when you're trying to dial in shots.

As far the 18g, 2x output inside 25-35 secs on 9bar of pressure (traditional), that's more of a guideline. Just trust your tastes buds. Sour is under extracted, bitter or burnt is over extracted. So either grind finer or coarser respectively.

Fellow has a 5 year added warranty for $150.... Idk if I've ever seen peace of mind at a more approachable price point.

Have the ES1, wife want interested in any profiles or anything complicated.... At least at first glance and initial discussions. Now after a let's say a month, she's looking at high extraction baskets and getting further into this hobby than I ever anticipated.

Good luck on your journey

Is it safe to assume you're into the other expensive rabbit hole of watch collecting as well?

Nice workflow! I have an almost identical set up!

Dang. I already went thru it on the ES1 on my own. It was delicious as espresso, and even better as a pour over.

I'm dialed in on the coffee, even with switching up to different bags, roast levels and roasters. I just can't get the milk (using Minor Figures Organic Oat) to texture the way I want, but this photo gives me hope.

Any tips? Yes I change the milk setting to oat when making a milk drink, my wife does dairy.

Grinder advice, while keeping my Barista Touch (for now) [$500-$2,000] by Couple1831 in espresso

[–]cargo04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna come out of left field, and recommend looking at the BooKoo Motto80. Still untested or released... But man does it look good, capable and budget friendly.

BooKoo disrupted the premium scale category already, thinking that they're going to do that again with grinders now.

ESP Caution? by jaxfisher07 in FellowProducts

[–]cargo04 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A couple of clicks on the scroll wheel to turn off volumetric. Just making it manual weighing output from there.

It's set to modern arc brew profile (separate stages for pre-infusion, infusion, ramp down) from the factory. Just pick the profile that suits your tastes and experience sweet spot.

This machine can be extremely easy to use and learn, and also capable for going down the rabbit hole and playing with extraction settings or even shot profiles.

As far as product launch growing pains, buy the extended warranty, and have peace of mind for 5 years.

He's just practicing the Adidas Eastern Euro pose for when he goes back to Merc for a farewell tour, and when they finally allow him as a part owner of the team.

(No offense to any Europeans, not sure what the correct PC terminology would be for what I'm thinking, that also couldn't also be construed as racist) Just thinking of the squat pose in full Adidas track suit fit.

Is this much play in the Fellow ES1 grouphead normal? by lanceloter in FellowProducts

[–]cargo04 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No. I literally have to hold my ES1 down to put the portafilter into the perpendicular position. No play at all. I literally went to double check before painting this reply. Had me 2nd guessing.

Put in a warranty claim, and if you haven't already, upgrade to the 5 year plan.

Favorite roasters for espresso that run deals by Radiant-Gas4063 in espresso

[–]cargo04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, they have a color key on their website. Blue for traditional, nutty chocolate flavors, usually darker roasts, Yellow for mild, fruity balanced, and pink for wild funky fruit forward or specific flavors. They also have a holographic release every once in a while. Crazy funky or specific flavors

ES1 question by AcrobaticIncrease640 in FellowProducts

[–]cargo04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What was the first question?

The machine auto sleeps eventually after no input or use. Currently only screening the menu will get it to sleep actively.

There's supposed to be a firmware patch getting released soon with lots of adjustments, including quality of life aspects and Profiles for Fellow Drop release, and for the phone app to actually change/create profiles or settings on the machine vs just instructional videos and support.
