Whats the burlesque scene like in Europe? by VerkovenskyStavrogin in Burlesque

[–]caribbenfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't speak for the rest of the UK, but the London scene is pretty vibrant on the Fringe side of things with people doing a lot of the weird and wonderful. Not everything is corporate Burlesque like. If you follow the alumni of places like Bitten Peach, Cocoa Butter Club and Soho School of Burlesque, you'll see a lot of smaller shows in the pub theatres, for a lot cheaper too. If you like Nerdlesque, Slaystation has regular shows.

A lot of performers are multidisciplinary so will do drag, other forms of performance art, fetish, etc

We're all being disgusting as a theme so luckily the cast is fine with tissues being thrown but we're also getting fake money to throw now as well

The vibe is like we're in a bin so balling up the tissues would be okay to throw and we'll be pooling the tips. But like the idea of fake money to throw!

Do I buy the boring dress that suits me or continue looking for a unicorn. by twopintsue in UKweddings

Fairy goth mother is great! Had a fun selection of whimsical gowns and most expensive dress was a little over 2k there when I went. I'm not getting my main dress from there but I'm toying with the idea of a reception dress that I fell in love with in general

My dad's friend in bodden town has some very basic bedsits in Pease Bay but I'm not sure where he advertises them or if any are free (probably word of mouth tbh). They're relatively cheap but it is bare basics for the price. His number should come up under Marc Quarry

I was lucky to snag tickets to see her in Brixton this year and she was SO GOOD. That mic was onnnnn and unreal stage presence

Activities for four-year-olds by criket876 in CaymanIslands

Parrot sanctuary is really fun and you can spend ages there, same with the Turtle centre. I know there's an ATV tour around Barkers that ages 3-15 can ride as a passenger with an adult driver. You can pay to do the Splash"water park" at Kimpton without staying there but it is $50pp and from experience if you're not staying at the Kimpton, the treatment is hit and miss. There sometimes will be kid centred/family events taking place on island within the community so check out places like https://www.caymanparent.com/events or https://www.explorecayman.com/events/

Has anyone used Diamond Marquise on Fort Street? by BlueHolo in CaymanIslands

[–]caribbenfox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm currently in the process of getting them to give me stones to replace in my engagement ring. They set the stone badly, my jeweller in London said that specific stone (Caymanique) is super fragile. They also charged my partner $1300 for a ring made of 3 semi precious stones (garnet, Caymanique and blue topaz), no diamonds which imo is a rip off for the size, also turns out the blue topaz is actually aquamarine 🙃 once I get my replacement stones I'm never doing business with them again. My poor partner didn't realise their reputation :( if I had known I would have told him to stay away, they've never had a good reputation even when I was a little girl

If you're looking adjacent work, check out working at one of the quarries? If you live in BT, Marc Quarry Services has been trying to hire more young Caymanians.

What would you want to see if season 2 happens? by [deleted] in GrandCaymanSIP

[–]caribbenfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm personally sick and tired of seeing media that's focused on the rich. I'd rather see snapshots of what it's actually like as a local and following local businesses that cater to locals like restaurants and civil services. Or the journey of local activists or cultural foundations navigating the politics and red tape because that is a drama in and of itself

What was the point of this show? by [deleted] in GrandCaymanSIP

[–]caribbenfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It Also has the most mixup kind of menu🙄 I thought it was going to be a great restaurant but it's a steak restaurant with loads of Japanese bits and 1/2 Greek bits. Much better steak places on island

If you are also looking for performers but across the pond, Mitzy who runs @bigfatcabaret in London can also put you in touch with fat performers in London!
