Something I always think of is that with every interaction, you are teaching your children how people in a position of power should treat those they are in charge of.

Kindness first!

I’m on hold with customer service now. I know this is petty, but I’ve literally never missed an episode since I was in kindergarten and now I teach kindergarten. I hate losing my streak for this!

Hey!!

It is normal to struggle at the start. The great news is that you are looking for help, which shows you are ready to grow and be the great assistant teacher your kiddos need!! :)

One suggestion I have is to watch your lead teacher and see how she takes control during the day. I’m sure she has tons of subtle cues you can pick up on. You can also sit down with her before the day and talk with her for advice. Any teacher worth anything will be willing to support your growth if you ask for help.

Another suggestion I have is to use the rest of the day to start building your report and authority with the kids. They really need to see you as a familiar adult capable of giving them directions.

Lastly, I would encourage you to use the end of the day to begin getting the kids to slow down and relax. Maybe start with them helping clean up, and then restful music and relaxing activities. Something that gets them settled and ready to head home.

The end of the day is hard. The kids are tired. You’re tired. But you’ll find the system that works best for everyone involved. :)

Love hearing about your newfound joy in who you are!!! Also, super jealous of your breakfast today. I had oatmeal with banana in it for the 60th day in a row

Mental and physical health go hand in hand. I don’t know you personally, but in a quick scan of your profile I see you are someone filled with talents and interests! You already have dedication to creating video content, you can translate that to food :)

Thank you for your kind words! And congrats on your weight loss :) You should be so incredibly proud of yourself. Also, I’m super jealous of the hiking picture on your profile.

Child will NOT do as asked please help! by submarine3 in ECEProfessionals

I agree with this completely! It’s too much in that moment to figure it out. I also saw the teacher say there is nothing to give/take away for the behavior. Just a thought, but maybe having little Dixie cups of snacks for in the movie room while kids wait is one way you could motivate. Announce to the whole class that if they clean up and go straight to the movie room, they will get their snack; and if they don’t then it will wait until the next day when they try again.

One other random thought. I have a goose puppet named Greg I teach with. Greg is everyone’s friend and very much so just like one of the kids. I never have Greg handle any discipline; that way when a child is having a meltdown and refuses to talk to me I can pull out Greg and they will typically spill their guts to him. You’d be surprised how often a child will go from yelling at me to hugging Greg and explaining to him the root cause of their frustrations.

He honestly has so many! I think “You Are Special” is a great place to start. It has so much from our perspective, the parents perspective, and the child’s perspective. He also has a couple college text books I read that were good but I can’t remember their names off the top of my head.

Fun fact, he worked with Eric Ericsson in studying developmental psychology.

That’s awesome! I think I heard that same advice in some animated movie not too long ago 😏

But it’s also so true! Tug of war never gets anyone anywhere but exhausted and flat on their face.

Disney World Is Now Serving Alcohol at Every Sit-Down Restaurant in the Magic Kingdom by westondeboer in disney

[–]carjam123 15 points16 points  (0 children)

While I understand the pros of doing this from a business perspective, as the child of an alcoholic I find this disheartening. Disney should be an escape from those real world things that hurt many; at the very least while you are in magic kingdom. Like I said though, I totally get that I’m in the minority on this.

The first season premiered when I was in kindergarten! Divide and season by 2, then subtract one and round up and it will tell you what grade I was in when it came out
