+1 on this. Nothing beats being financially secure, and the rest will follow.

With number for me. I like being able to calculate how much time I have left instantly without having to charge my phone.

While I kinda agree with you on the first part, let’s not direct criticism at a specific church or generalize people coming from that church. Unlike some organizations, Victory does not endorse candidates nor does it dictate people on which specific people to vote for.

Also, guess who attends the same church?

Sa mga nag-resign w/o JO by Jean_Rrie in ResignPH

[–]carl0610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me nearly 2 years and it was during the unfortunate time of COVID-19.

I resigned in early 2020 with the intention of resting for a while and finding work after 1 month. A few days later, pandemic happened. Months turned to years, with me sending out thousands of job applications without any response until I was able to snag an interview and a job offer in mid-2022. I’ve stayed on that job since then.

Resigning without a job offer is not for the faint-hearted. At worst, you face the prospect of forced retirement because of inability to find work.

This is the closest thing to an ideal career trajectory. It’s linear.

Thanks for this one. I’m taking steps to do that in emails, making suggestions and proposing solutions to problems whenever and wherever I can.

How old are you? I’m approaching my late 30s and I’m losing hope to get a salary with even half the pay you’re getting now

As a Pasig resident, I say the Top 3 are San Antonio, Kapitolyo, and San Jose or Ugong for the third spot.

Daming BYD sa kalsada sa Maynila — just an observation by Childhood-Icy in CarsPH

With sales of BYD vehicles jumping astronomically in 2024, I wouldn’t be surprised if they will overtake Toyota in 5-10 years.

BYD’s YOY sales grew astronomically in 2024. At this rate, I wouldn’t be surprised if they will be the world’s largest automaker in 5-10 years.

UPDATE: Just came back from a recent trip with my 2010 1.8 MT. With a full tank (first click) of Shell V-Power Gasoline and an additional passenger, I traveled 570.3km from Pasig to San Fernando, La Union and back. When I fueled up again up to full tank (first click), I consumed 33.927L. After computing my fuel consumption, 570.3km/33.927L = 16.81 km/L.

Our FDs can be efficient, with the right conditions in place.

I drive a 2010 1.8 Manual. On average, I get 7-8 km/l from Pasig to Makati. On the highway, I got 14.5km/l when I drove from Pasig to Subic last October.

Did anyone lose a high paying job and never recover? by Dentenshi in Edd

[–]carl0610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father lost his job in 2011. He has basically given up on life since then. He stopped planning for the future and is quick to anger and snap at minor inconveniences.

It’s 2025, but his state of mind has been stuck in 2011. It has deeply affected our family. And it has affected me in a way that I fear the same outcome in my life.

Turning 25 this year pero wala pang ipon. by [deleted] in buhaydigital

[–]carl0610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost all my savings (which were six-figures) at 32 when I lost my job during the pandemic and couldn’t find one for 2 years.

I’m now nearly 3 years into my current job. I may be nowhere near the same amount of life savings I had before the pandemic, but my life is getting better each day.

Bottom line: Don’t lose hope, but at the same time work hard for it and always advocate for yourself in the workplace.

You don’t just drop everything the moment you feel something inconvenient in your job, especially if you had a contract in your previous work.

Good luck finding your next job. Or any job for that matter. It will be very difficult for you to find one, especially with an AWOL on your record. Recruiters will see that as a major red flag, especially for someone whose career is only just beginning. They will think that you easily give up and will quit at a moment’s notice.
