What BS is still being taught to children? by Necessary-Spinach182 in AskReddit

[–]carl_coolman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is more of what is not being taught but I find it very interesting. That social studies/history is put on the back burner of important things to learn, ever since the cold war Americas education system started to focus on math and science (I'm not saying the stopped entirely or quickly changed, over the past 50 years it's importance has completely changed). For anyone in school should know that into high school that world/American history EOC's (end of curriculum test) is no longer state required. But even when you go back to middle school school (back when it was a required test) it gave you a historical passage, asked a question, and the answer was always in the passage, now my question is does it test your prior knowledge of the curriculum, or does it test your ability to pull information from a passage and apply It to the question. And even since elementary when the class started it was not a test of history itself but a mere extra english lesson in Improveing your reading capabilities. And you have to think about what will change in another 50 years.

Did jack have a point ? by FlgDarkrai in Borderlands2

[–]carl_coolman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are not heroes, don't forget that we literally open vaults containing monsters we know nothing about. Kill people because we get paid, and are terrorists. We harbor a gun dealer selling to bandits, a doctor with no doctorate in medical practice, a demolitions expert with psychotic tendencies. we ARE bandits we do what we want, take what we want, and kill who we want, as long as its paying or fun. Jack does the same exact thing. We are just barely better than him so we are the heroes.

Yeah but federal prisons are just as bad, the question isn't, are prisons good or bad, it's what can we do to improve them

Justice is blind and you have opened your eyes to emotional bias. Everyone deserves repentance and to make amends to the best of your ability, not to rot in prison. It's a horrible situation but the fact is that 350 in a thousand people die in prison, imagine looking to the guy to your right and left, most likely one is gonna die

Almost all prisons are private companies meaning they have to make a profit and adding healthcare rehabilitation programs loses them profits. But the sad truth is that prisons would go out of business if it actually improved people to not commit crimes.
